2023: Device Announcement
On 6 October 2023, GE HealthCare announced the launch of Venue ultrasound systems with Caption Guidance technology, through which any doctor can receive diagnostic quality images of the heart. Thus, scanning can be carried out in a variety of conditions, in particular, in emergency departments, intensive care, anesthesiology, etc.
The Caption Guidance feature is based on artificial intelligence algorithms. The system in real time generates step-by-step instructions for performing ultrasound to assess the condition of the heart. The technology allows healthcare professionals, even those who are not experts in ultrasound, to detect heart failure and signs of other cardiovascular diseases in patients. And this potentially makes it possible to prescribe the necessary treatment in the early stages of the disease.
With the integration of Caption Guidance's AI-based software, Venue family devices can improve cardiac care and reduce the burden on sonographers and radiology departments by giving more doctors the ability to perform heart scans on patients, says Dietmar Seifriedsberger, Chief Executive Officer of GE HealthCare. |
The company plans to integrate Caption Guidance technology into other ultrasound systems, including portable ones, which will help further increase access to diagnostic services for citizens. It is expected that the AI solution will increase the number of doctors who will be able to successfully and confidently conduct ultrasound scans in various medical institutions. Caption Guidance is part of Verisound's technology suite, formerly known as Ultrasound Digital Solutions[1]
