2023: Rifle Production Launch
On February 21, 2023, the Kalashnikov concern announced the start of mass production of the Chukavin sniper rifle (SHF).
Chukavin's rifle successfully passed state tests. Microwave is being manufactured in the interests of the customer. The design documentation of the product is assigned the letter "O1" for serial production, - the president of the company Alan Lushnikov told TASS. |
Microwave - semi-automatic sniper rifle. It is designed for two types of cartridges - 7.62x54 mm and 7.62x51 mm (.308 Win). In a caliber of 7.62x54 mm, it is compatible with magazines from the Dragunov sniper rifle, which it must replace.
According to the agency, the design of the rifle allows you to take into account the individual features of shooters and their use of a wide range of combat equipment. The weapon is equipped with a foldable adjustable bipod, backup mechanical sights, a control handle made of shock-resistant polymer, a freely hung forearm to improve the stability and accuracy of the battle and unified M-LOK seats on it, and also has the ability to adjust the descent force.
The developers of this weapon previously reported that the sniper rifle was developed according to the so-called "gardine scheme": its internal mechanisms are conditionally divided into upper and lower parts. The upper part is made of durable metal and takes on all the load when firing. The rifle barrel is rigidly mounted on it. This makes the lower part as light as possible, since it will not be subject to vibrations, and the elements installed on it can be made of lightweight polymer materials. Such a design differs significantly from the layout of SVD or ATM, where the main structural elements are installed from below, which limits designers in the use of light materials.[1]
