The new Cisco ASR 9000 routers working with speed of 96 Tbit / with by 36 times increase bandwidth for IPv6 applications, in comparison with the competing technologies, and up to 70 percent cut down current expenses
The Cisco company offered telecom operators easier way of construction of architecture of the Internet of new generation, having improved the flagman router for edge networks of Cisco® ASR 9000. As a result this architecture will become more transparent, mobile and virtual, the level of industry achievements will be lifted to new level, possibilities of boundary segments of the Internet of new generation will be sharply expanded, and the broadcasting industry and show business will undergo significant changes. All this and also increase in productivity and considerable cost reduction became possible thanks to the latest Cisco nV technology (network virtualization is network virtualization), which will be established on Cisco ASR 9000 routers in the beginning, and then, in process of development of networks, will extend also to other platforms of Cisco. According to the last forecasts of Cisco, by 2015 in the world there will be more than 15 billion devices connected to the Internet that twice will exceed the population of the globe. At the same time the global volume of Internet traffic will be quadrupled and will reach 966 exabytes a year. Only from 2014 for 2015 the volume of Internet traffic will grow by 200 exabytes, i.e. by the value exceeding the last year's volume of world Internet traffic. According to the same report of Cisco® Visual Networking Index (VNI) of Forecast (2010-2015) ("The index of development of network technologies from 2010 for 2015"), by 2015 nearly 3 billion people, i.e. more than 40 percent of the population of our planet will use the Internet. Every second video records lasting 1 million minutes, or will be transferred 674 days in the world. All these trends create continuously growing demand for bandwidth. Innovations of Cisco will help operators to develop successfully the business in quickly changing environment and to get an additional profit. The system of routing of Cisco ASR 9000 is developed for boundary network segments and networks of aggregation. It supplements the Cisco CRS-3 systems working in a trunk part of the Internet of new generation. Cisco ASR 9000 will allow to implement new fascinating services for end users, to create new sources of income for operators and to develop new methods of joint work at the enterprises. The chief world operators, such as PCCW, China Telecom, Comcast, Cox Communications, FastWeb, NTT Plala, Tata Communications, install Cisco ASR 9000 routers in the networks, joining community from more than five hundred operators who are already using advantages of these systems.
The new Cisco ASR 9000 12 system of July, 2011 Cisco expanded the product family with Cisco ASR 9000, having added to it the new Cisco ASR 9922 model and interfaces of high density 10 and 100 Gigabit Ethernet (GE) intended for boundary network segments. Besides, the Cisco ASR 9000v model is developed for networks of aggregation. Together with Cisco ASR 9010 and Cisco ASR 9006 routers these new solutions will help to create a single system for high-speed connection of individual users and corporate customers to networks for access to new video services, mobile services and cloud computing.
The technology of network virtualization Cisco announced Cisco nV technology for "smart" consolidation of boundary level, level of aggregation and the access level in a single system of Cisco ASR 9000. It will allow to simplify network transactions, to increase the capacity of networks and to accelerate delivery of services of IPv6 on the Internet of new generation.
Network capacity using Cisco nV technology new Cisco ASR 9000 routers will be able to support the highest performance in the industry (96 terabits per second), by 36 times exceeding possibilities of the competing products. It allows the one and only Cisco ASR 9000 system:
- transfer all American soccer matches of all supercups, all FIFA World Cups and all World Cups in cricket in a stream format;
- at the same time to transfer the movie with high resolution to all, without exception, to residents of Beijing, London and Moscow (about 43 million people);
- every minute to load information equal on the volume of 180 thousand disks of DVD;
- support up to 84.840 Gigabit Ethernet ports. It, in turn, allows the one and only Cisco ASR 9000 system to provide on one Gigabit Ethernet connection practically to each household of Venice or the American city of Orlando (State of Florida).
Simplification of network transactions With the help of Cisco nV technology the new Cisco ASR 9000 system cuts down current expenses for value to 70 percent (in comparison with the competing platforms for boundary network segments) and pays off less than in a year. Simplification of transactions and cost reduction result from use of methodology of a Plug and Play, uniform access point to technical support using the solution Cisco Prime™ for the IP NGN networks, economic configurations and special functions simplifying installation of systems. As a result the need for expensive works on setup, support and service on places decreases. The customer saves means both on the hardware systems, and on the software. Now this opportunity is available more than to five hundred customers of Cisco ASR 9000. Access to it is provided using a simple software update.
The simplified transition to IPv6 protocol using Cisco Videoscape Cisco technology continues strategy implementation of construction of networks of new generation with IPv6 protocol that will allow to simplify design, deployment and management of services of telecom operators in all countries. The integrated service module Cisco with Cisco nV technology allows to perform transition to IPv6 with operator quality on thousands of devices. The integrated service modules Cisco use Cisco Videoscape™ technology for caching, stream transfer, monitoring, optimization and monetization of video services.
