2018: Multicloud environment of an industrial class

The Cisco company provided in February, 2018 an open software platform of industrial level ready for operation for work with containers. Cisco Container Platform is intended for customers who need seamless uniform applications launch as locally, and in a public cloud. The platform based on completely original (upstream) version of Kubernetes simplifies and accelerates to application developers and IT departments configuring and deployment of container clusters and also management of them.

Cisco Container Platform creates an open multicloud environment with uniform procedures of deployment of applications and managements of them on different platforms, including Cisco HyperFlex, virtual machines and hardware (bare metal) servers as locally, and in a cloud. Such variety of options of deployment protects infrastructure investments of customers and gives to IT departments the chance to perform applications where they are most effective, with seamless transition between private and public clouds.

Cisco Container Platform — the expanded platform of management of containers based on industry standards with an open architecture and components open source. The solution is intended for end-to-end management of container clusters, including accomplishment of such transactions as initial installation, orchestration, authentication, monitoring, network interaction, balancing of loading and optimization. Besides, Cisco Container Platform provides expansion for interaction with other open environments of deployment of applications and also means of ensuring of network interaction (Contiv), information security, analytics and management.

As single solution of automation of the repeating tasks Cisco Container Platform will help to increase operational efficiency and to reduce payback periods of investments thanks to the fact that at IT departments need to set, configure and support a set of diverse solutions disappears. Thus, deployment of container environments of industrial level and management of them becomes simpler. The release and optimization of Cisco Container Platform for Cisco HyperFlex 3.0 is originally provided: licensing is possible as separately, and as a part of integrated solution. For the organization of network interaction of the containers Cisco Container Platform also includes Contiv technology and provides further integration with infrastructure of Cisco ACI™ (Application Centric Infrastructure), providing an opportunity to develop containers and to define network politicians of ACI by Kubernetes.

It is optimized together with Google Cloud

Cisco and Google Cloud closely cooperated over expansion and optimization of the Kubernetes platform for local commercial operation, creating a uniform environment in which customers could move with confidence working tasks between private and public clouds. Cisco Container Platform is a crucial element of an open hybrid cloud from Cisco and Google which the companies announced in October, 2017 and planned to release in 2018. Thanks to a combination of Cisco Container Platform and the cloud platform of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) of technology of Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) which is a part customers will have an opportunity to use containers, ready to commercial operation, in any infrastructure.
