The processed architecture of ISR 4000
ISR 4000 works at IOS-XE that means - IOSd works at Linux kernel. There is a possibility of start of virtual applications on this core.
In the router it is possible to set an edge of UCS.
During creation of the ISR 4000 series in Cisco tried to save the place in a cabinet therefore at ISR 4000 height in RU is less, than at the corresponding ISR G2 routers.
Design of a panel of interfaces of input-output
Devices of the ISR 4000 series use virtualization. Such applications as WAAS, Energywise and other services can be started on the router.
Hard drives can be added to ISR 4000, there is a possibility of "hot" replacement. Installation of SSD drives is available.
ISR 4000 has a set of options of connection for a broad spectrum of topology of WAN. There are ports: Ethernet, T1/E1, T3/E3, and 3G/4G.
The additional routed ports can be added, and, for the first time, ISR routers will support 10GE. Software allows to switch the mode of the network interface: 4x 1GE or 1x 10GE. All GE interfaces have two physical connections – RJ45 and SFP, sharing of copper and fiber optic cables is allowed.
The architecture of the platform supports service containers which, in fact, represent the connected virtual machines. The IT administrator can use the selected resources, providing high reliability as if the problem was solved on the separate device, but at the same time to work with a uniform node. It considerably reduces number of devices which need to be managed on the remote websites.
Memory of the platform extends about 8 Tbyte what is enough for different office services, including a local hosting in need of performance improvement, data backup and receiving local analytics.
