Cisco Security Connector

In December, 2017 Cisco announced release of Security Connector, the first application of information security which gives to the enterprises a complete overview and control of devices running iOS; the application is available in App Store.

When developing the operating system for the mobile devices IOS the Apple company first of all was guided by security reasons, aiming to make at the same time a system to ordinary, productive and clear users. In the version of IOS 11 of Apple and Cisco company jointly developed new features of Network Extension Framework which provided transparency and control of DNS traffic and also obtaining information on all traffic which is generated by users, applications and devices.

The Security Connector application underwent trial operation at a number of key customers of Cisco. They noted the following advantages of the application:

• Overview. In the course of investigation of incidents helps to provide normative and legal compliance of the devices which are owned by the enterprise and actions of users thanks to an opportunity to immediately define what occurred and who suffered and also to estimate possible risks;
• Control. Protects users of iPhone and iPad from connection to the harmful websites as in corporate, and public Wi-Fi and cellular networks;
• Zero negative impact on work of employees in mobile networks.

The companies even more often use mobile networks in the production purposes, and more than 70% of the organizations issue to the employees tablets and smartphones. At the same time, to minimize risks and to provide compliance to regulatory requirements, the organizations should see what happens to corporate data on these devices.

Cisco developed the Security Connector application for iOS 11 with the purpose to provide to the organizations the detailed overview of network traffic on corporate IOS-DEVICES. The application is used by functionality of solutions Cisco Umbrella and Cisco AMP.
