Co-Design to Target is the system focused by her creators in Dassault Systèmes company on use in the space and defense industries.
The Dassault Systèmes company announced an exit of this industry solution on July 2, 2013.
The preface to a product
Not many enterprises of aerospace and defense industry in the course of activity come to the imposed budget plans, the specified time frames or required specifications of products. In many respects it is caused by the increasing complexity of the used systems, excessive ambitions in planning and hasty implementation of new technologies. In addition, at a development stage of new programs of the company meet additional difficulties: use of separate workflows, point solutions significantly differing in program ecosystem scales, a never-ending flow of unforeseen changes in programs.
Advantages
The Co-Design to Target system is designed to solve many of these questions, offering the unique approach guaranteeing project implementation at the scheduled time with observance of the budget and accomplishment of all effective objectives. For this purpose a number of revolutionary opportunities is provided in Co-Design to Target:
- Viewing the status of the program (project) in real time, with connection of points between all processes in structure of execution of the program. The ability to manage the program put in Co-Design to Target not only allows to coordinate execution of the program, but also provides the built-in mechanisms for tracking of different indicators by all key criteria, including on costs, terms, amount of works, performance, risks and new opportunities;
- Viewing indicators of the project of the aircraft in real time in a root changes the design approach of aircrafts. Co-Design to Target offers engineers and designers an opportunity to work on creation of the aircraft not only in the context of traditional digital models (digital mock-up, DMU), but also in the context of new function models (Functional Mock-Up, FMU) which allow to estimate real behavior of model. Similar approach provides more complete, objective and realistic determination of the program, allowing to organize requirements, systems and structures so that all engineers in the company worked well-coordinated as much as possible;
- The integrated value creation flows, from design and modeling and finishing with production planning of parts and preparation for involvement of resources. The main mission of Co-Design to Target is in providing the fastest design of components and systems with observance of all necessary specifications, without allowing emergence of the overdue questions or problems capable to negatively affect price programs or for terms of its implementation.
"One of permanent difficulties which the enterprises of aerospace and defense industry meet consists in need of accomplishment of all promises on implementation of the current projects. The companies are terribly interested in that programs were executed with an adherence to deadlines, met the set budget, and projects did not go beyond the set specifications, – Monica Menghini, the executive vice president of Dassault Systèmes for industrial solutions and marketing noted. – For last more than 30 years we completely changed process of creation of aircrafts, having provided technologies of three-dimensional design. Now we are faced by a task to change the nature of program implementation in the space industry at the expense of our new platform 3DEXPERIENCE. Representing Co-Design to Target, we set as the purpose to propose industry solutions which would allow to reach new performance level at design of aircrafts and to provide the maximum control of course of execution of programs that the enterprises could implement programs in a full compliance with the promises".
