2021: Novosibirsk Medical and Biological Union invests 150 million rubles in the production of rapid blood tests CoaguTest

Novosibirsk developer of reagents for in vitro diagnostics "Medical and Biological Union" in early October 2021 announced the investment of up to 150 million rubles in expanding the production of express tests. The group of companies plans to produce the following medical products:

• a portable coagulometer CoaguTest designed to perform blood clotting tests in patients with COVID-19 and monitor patients after surgery;
• chip based on microfluidic systems for rapid determination of blood group and rhesus factor.

According to the Medical and Biological Union, at the first stage this chip will be used in disaster medicine, but in the future retail sales of this product are possible at a price of 100 to 150 rubles.

As for the device, the principle of its operation is similar to the control of blood sugar. This development is relevant for people who recover from surgery, they need to regularly do tests to correct the use of drugs, for example after stenting. By October 2021, in order to do these tests, patients have to go to medical institutions.

According to Mikhail Losev, director of the Medical and Biological Union, by the beginning of October 2021, the group is in the process of scaling chip production. In addition, the group is preparing to receive registration in the Ministry of Health and Roszdravnadzor. The development of technologies for determining the group and rhesus factor is the most difficult direction, as it is associated with modern approaches to the creation of microfluidic systems.
