2026: Serial Production Launch
In Ulyanovsk, the DM Technologies group of companies launched mass production of lathes with numerical program control (CNC). This was reported by the press service of the Federal Industrial Development Fund (FRP) on February 5, 2026.
The report indicates that the company has switched from pilot to mass production of the Cobalt T2 model, developed in-house. As part of the project, a new line was launched for the machining and grinding of frames - key supporting structures for metalworking machines.
The total investment in the project exceeded 130 million rubles, of which 104 million rubles amounted to a preferential loan to the FRP provided under the flagship program "Development Projects." Borrowed funds were used to purchase special equipment, which made it possible to optimize the production process.
The serial model of the Cobalt T2 CNC lathe is the first in the planned line. The expected production capacity is up to 100 such machines per year. The bulk of the components for the machine are produced by Russian enterprises. This applies to the cockpit, the housing of the electric cabinet, the operator's panel, the hydraulic station and the chip conveyor.
The machine runs on domestic software, which guarantees technological independence from foreign solutions and allows you to improve the equipment yourself. According to the developer, the machine is not inferior to foreign counterparts in accuracy and stability of operation over the entire service life.
DM Technologies is already working on expanding the line. In 2027, it is planned to begin production of the Cobalt A7 five-coordinate milling machining center.
The Governor of the Ulyanovsk Region Alexei Russkikh noted that the launch of serial production of CNC machines contributes to the task of achieving the country's technological sovereignty set by Russian President Vladimir Putin. Russkikh stressed that the region is actively engaged in the revival of the machine tool industry.
In total, with the support of the FRP in the Ulyanovsk region, 30 projects were financed for a total of 23.3 billion rubles, of which 9 projects in the amount of 5.1 billion rubles - in 2025. The main recipients of support were enterprises in the aviation, aerospace, automotive, metallurgical and tool industries.[1]
