2022: Philips has released a platform for remote viewing of ultrasound by different doctors in real time
In mid-March 2022, Philips Healthcare announced that it had launched the Collaboration Live product for remote viewing of ultrasound by different doctors in real time. The application is available on Philips EPIQ and Affiniti ultrasonic systems.
Ultrasound imaging (ultrasound) is one of the most accessible and inexpensive imaging methods. However, obtaining and interpreting the images obtained, as well as making an accurate diagnosis, require a lot of experience and skills of medical professionals. Although ultrasound equipment is available in both hospitals and health facilities, widespread staff shortages can make access to care difficult. In addition, the pandemic of coronavirus infection (COVID-19) revealed a risk for physicians in contact with infectious patients, and the resulting number of delayed examinations increases the workload and necessitates greater efficiency. The Collaboration Live platform allows remote diagnosis by expanding imaging capabilities for patients in and outside healthcare settings, and can help limit the risk of health care providers and patients contracting infectious diseases such as COVID-19.
With advanced permission for the diagnostic use of Collaboration Live on additional platforms, doctors have the opportunity to consult or diagnose. This makes it possible to increase the efficiency and flexibility of doctors, since they are no longer limited to a computer for remote cooperation. Collaboration Live is already helping to increase access to quality care in low-income areas.
We aim to help our clients provide better access to care for their patients regardless of their location at any time. Collaboration Live is a great example of how Philips empowers patients and healthcare professionals with telemedicine. Sonographers should no longer feel lonely or limited only to obtaining ultrasound images and preparing a report for subsequent clinical analysis. They can now use the experience of colleagues during ultrasound tests to make on-site the exact diagnosis that every patient deserves - said Philips CEO of global ultrasound services and solutions Gerois Di Marco. |
The Collaboration Live platform allows users to communicate quickly and securely, send text messages, share images and transfer video directly from the Philips EPIQ or Affiniti ultrasonic system to a compatible remote PC or mobile device. These combined functions, as well as the ability to verify the calibration of the remote view screen, provide the high diagnostic validity of healthcare professionals needed to optimize patient outcomes. The platform is applicable in any field of medicine, for example, in breast imaging and hepatology, where ultrasound can provide important diagnostic information, including maternal-fetal medicine when working with potentially dangerous pregnancies, as well as cardiac imaging.[1]
