2016: Announcement

In March, 2016 the Australian company Micro-X announced the output of the portable x-ray device under the name DRX Revolution Nano. Its weight is eight times less in comparison with the traditional equipment thanks to advanced technology.

The x-ray device created by specialists of Micro-X weighs only 75 kg whereas in normal hospitals the equipment weighing about 600 kg is used. Developers achieved ease due to use of the carbon nanotubes acting as a source of electrons, but not thermal electron emission (it is applied in x-ray tubes), which has much lower energy efficiency.

DRX Revolution Nano is the portable x-ray device using technology of carbon nanotubes

The new technology was developed in the University of North Carolina in Chapel-Hill (USA) and also partially in Duke University (Duke University, the USA). Micro-X acquired exclusive right on its implementation in health facilities, the managing director of the company Peter Rowland reported.

According to him, vertical and horizontal support and also the strengthened cart for transportation are required for the normal 600-kilogram x-ray systems. The matter is that one x-ray tube weighs about 26 kg, and a nanotube — only 1 kg. With respect thereto DRX Revolution Nano profitable differs from the traditional equipment.

Is going to begin with Micro-X world deliveries of DRX Revolution Nano in the middle of 2016.

It should be noted what will sell Micro-X the equipment within the public company. At the end of 2015 Micro-X came to the Australian stock exchange, having received assessment of market capitalization more than in $51 million. By March 28, 2016 it decreased to $31.5 million.
