2020: Creation of the platform for data exchange in automotive industry

At the beginning of December, 2020 it became known of creation by the companies Siemens, SAP and BMW platforms for data exchange in automotive industry. The Data-Sharing Platform project the German producers decided to reduce dependence from the American and the Chinese cloud computing.

According to Bloomberg, the new platform will allow the German car makers and their suppliers to find problem places in production and also to reveal the shortage of component parts not to assume interruptions in production, similar to those which arose in the period of COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.

This product the European cloud service of Gaia-X, but not platforms American will be the cornerstone of Amazon or Chinese Alibaba, notes news agency.

According to journalists of the edition, against the background of geopolitical tension and trade wars of the power of the European states began to treat more watchfully the admission of foreign firms to information storage, being afraid that the domestic companies can lose control over important confidential data about clients or products.

The CEO of BMW Oliver Zipse said that data have huge value for all automotive industry and for machines, in particular. In addition to Siemens, SAP and BMW, the German telecommunication giant Deutsche Telekom AG and producers of automobile components Bosch and ZF Friedrichshafen will take part in the project.
