The provider of cloud solutions of CRM Salesforce.com company in December, 2010 submitted the software product which will seriously strengthen its competition to Oracle corporation, the largest software maker for databases. New service from Salesforce.com is called Database.com and the data warehouse which developers will be able to apply to creation of interactive applications represents online.
New service is partially created on the basis of Oracle DBMS. According to in Salesforce.com, cloud DBMS can be applied with the applications of any types written in any programming languages to any target platforms. Applications can work both at the Force.com platform, and in a cloud of Amazon EC2 or in others — this opportunity is provided using API.
One copy of Database.com can service several endpoints, from the corporate websites to the applications performed on mobile devices at once. SSL enciphering, a single input and the developed security aids are supported. A system also has functions of automatic scaling, setup, backup and updating.
Salesforce.com will also offer additional opportunities, for example ready model of "social data" — with structures for storage of the user profiles, updates of the status, RSS news, etc.
Besides, customers will receive the administrative console and access to functions of extraction, transformation and loadings. Specialized tools for Java, by .NET, Ruby and PHP are provided; mobile sets for iPhone, iPad and Android and also platform tools for Google AppEngine, Google Data, Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, Facebook and Twitter.
