On December 10, 2013 the Dell company announced a release of the new version of Dell Active System Manager 7.5


Description

The new version of the platform of management of Active System Manager is focused on customers for whom tools are necessary for simple management of heterogeneous infrastructures.

Many IT organizations face tasks of management of the data processing centers constructed on the basis of solutions of different producers and supports of workloads. These problems are usually solved by means of several management consoles that can significantly influence the speed of implementation of services.


Advantages

The new version of the Active System Manager 7.5 platform helps to simplify implementation of services and, by means of the single console, provides the improved user interface with intuitive control functions by infrastructure and automation of a working environment. The solution supports the third-party hardware thanks to what customers can continue to use the available equipment. Active System Manager helps to accelerate accomplishment of workloads and to optimize an infrastructure management process, allowing the IT companies to start quicker services and to promote the fastest receiving return of investments for the clients.

Assisting in the solution of the standing tasks, Dell offers the differentiated approach to convergence, helping customers to select virtual, physical or heterogeneous environment. The Active System Manager 7.5 platform supplements a solution portfolio of the company here.


Open code

The Dell company continues to develop the open source software and cooperates with Puppet Labs, the leading developer of the open source software for IT automation that allowed to equip the Active System Manager platform with functions which allow customers to use any heterogeneous environments without difficulties and restrictions.


Availability

Emergence of the Dell Active System Manager 7.5 platform on sale in the first quarter is expected 2014.

2015: There was a release of the version of Active System Manager 8.1.1

On September 14, 2015 the Dell company announced release of Active System Manager of version 8.1.1. The release provides integration into the management tool with clouds of VMware vRealize Suite.

Use of product capabilities helps to integrate physical and virtual environments, to manage clouds by means of VMware vRealize Suite. Organizing integration of Dell ASM with VMware vRealize Suite, the company released a plug-in for vRealize Orchestrator and vRealize Automation for:

  • implementations by business analysts and IT architects of effective templates and methods of automation of ASM in workflows of vRealize Orchestrator, completely describing business processes (including requests, their approval, formation of help desks and instruments of self-service for users of cloud environments), thus reducing time expenditure and improving the speed of reaction of a system and also increasing the level of its availability;

  • providing customers with the directory of the ready and checked in work templates of the infrastructures and workloads developed by professional administrators for ASM which can be quickly unrolled by users from the directory of services vRealize Automation.

By means of integration of ASM and vRealize Suite customers receive the ready-made complete solution for implementation and management of private and hybrid cloud platforms from Dell and VMware.

Dell Active System Manager 8.1.1 is available to the order by means of official partners of vendor since September, 2015.
