On December 17, 2013 the Dell company announced an exit of new generation of storage systems and network equipment. As a part of this line six new models on a basis a flash memory, hard drives and a hybrid technology. They are equipped with the controller of new generation.

In comparison with arrays of the previous generation, the device of the Dell EqualLogic PS6210 series provide the increased capacity, performance and by 4 times high capacity is up to 3 times higher.

• New arrays on a basis a flash memory are capable to support 2.4 times more virtual work places and provide twice higher performance of the OLTP databases with twice smaller response time in comparison with arrays of the previous generation.
• Storage area networks (SAN) with flash drives support more than 1.2 million transactions of input-output per second (IOPS) with response time less than 2 ms.
• Horizontally scalable architecture of systems helps the organizations to minimize noises of input-output and to cope with the increasing loading.

Dell EqualLogic PS6510ES

EqualLogic PS6510ES array - the first hybrid disk array in PS6500 Series line with connection on iSCSI.

At new devices capacity up to 84.8 Tbyte and they may contain seven SSD solid state drives with a capacity of 400 Gbytes and 41 disks nearline SAS with a capacity of 2 Tbytes. For comparison, in the previous PS6500 Series models - EqualLogic PS6500E, PS6500X, PS6510E and PS6510X - is used 48 hard drives: combination of SATA, SAS or nearline SAS. New arrays are optimized for virtualization of workstations (VDI) and accelerate input-output transactions.

The disk array of the PS6500ES family supports the network Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) interfaces, and PS6510ES - 10GbE. The new systems can be used for such loadings as data warehouses, on-line transactions and DBMS, multimedia applications. EqualLogic PS Series combined with other arrays in one SAN group – up to 16 systems on group is allowed.

In the hybrid disk array automatic data migration between SSD and nearline SAS is used – "hot" data move to faster level of storage. Arrays of PS6500ES and PS6510ES support instruments of integration Dell EqualLogic Host Integration Tools for VMware 3.5.

EqualLogic PS6510ES array

Software of integration includes Virtual Storage Manager (VSM) and a plug-in of EqualLogic VMware vCenter that allows administrators to select the capacity of storage and to manage on a centralized basis several EqualLogic groups. VSM for VMware includes the Virtual Desktop Deployment tools for deployment of virtual workstations using the VMware vCenter interface.

On September 11, 2012 provided to Dell in Moscow the updated line of the DWH, the corporate products manager Anton Banchukov told journalists at a press conference.

"We managed to reduce the controller sizes significantly. Now by the sizes it is comparable to the hard drive. So we reduced it without loss of functionality and working capacity approximately by 4 times", - Banchukov told.
