2018: Dell PowerVault ME4

On October 3, 2018 the Dell EMC company provided generation of the arrays of data storage of the initial PowerVault ME4 Series level developed for the enterprises of small and medium business. According to the producer, arrays of PowerVault ME4 Series can help customers to upgrade IT and it is essential to increase performance of applications.

Requirements of the enterprises of small and medium business approximately correspond to requirements of the large organizations, but in a segment of SMB much more modest budgets there is less than the number of IT personnel. These companies should look for balance between the price and performance and also to select simple from use and service of DWH. Specialists of Dell EMC developed arrays of PowerVault ME4 Series, considering these requirements, and aimed to offer shirokofunktsionalny, but simple data storage arrays in installation and use, explained in Dell EMC.

DWH of Dell PowerVault ME4

According to the statement of the developer, the PowerVault ME4 Series family considerably exceeds the previous storage systems of Dell EMC of initial level on performance, capacity, ease of use and the opportunities. Dell EMC built in 75% more drives the PowerVault ME4 Series systems to increase the "crude" capacity of storage by 122% and also four times increased read performance in IOPS.

Systems, according to the producer, are suitable for a broad spectrum of scenarios of use with block data access, such as video surveillance, high-performance computing, virtualization/ VDI, environments SAN of initial level, inexpensive consolidation of data, editing video databases NoSQL, applications DAS and OEM solutions.

PowerVault ME4 Series represents an array of storage of initial level which provides performance and functions of a corporate class, including:

  • Flexible configurations of arrays. Three models offer from 12 to 84 drives which can be constructed for 0-100% for a flash memory and support any combination of solid state drives (SSD) and hard drives (HDD). It provides possibilities for achievement of optimal performance and low response time of flash drives at profitability of traditional hard drives.
  • Capacity and performance of the systems of the corporate level. PowerVault ME4 Series can scale up to 4 PBytes and up to 320,000 transactions of inputs/output per second (IOPS).
  • Complex software. Necessary for work with data and their protection — the built-in data protection, thin distribution of capacity, remote replication, instant pictures, three-level storage (tiring), cloning of volumes, integration about VMware vCenter and SRM, enciphering at the level of a disk and many other things offers all.
  • Integration with the systems of one vendor. Ready integration from servers Dell EMC PowerEdge the 13th and 14th generations simplifies problems of expansion of capacity of the server, providing reliable high-speed access of business applications to data in environments SAN or DAS, claim in Dell EMC.

As noted in Dell EMC, the PowerVault ME4 systems are developed for convenience of using. The array is established in 15 minutes, and its configuration requires 15 minutes too — and the array is ready for data storage for hybrid disks or flash drives. Management of an array of PowerVault ME4 Series becomes simpler thanks to the updated user interface on HTML5 that allows clients to use the web browser from any place for the solution of such tasks of management as configuring and management of profiles of storage and network connections, response to warnings and many other things.

Each controller of arrays PowerVault ME4 Series is equipped with dual core processor Intel Broadwell. Each array supports a little protocols, including Fibre Channel, iSCSI (and SFP+) and connection to host system on SAS.

For October, 2018 arrays of data storage of Dell EMC PowerVault ME4 Series are already available in the Russian market through official partners of the company.

2012

Dell PowerVault MD3

For December, 2012 upgraded by software of Dell PowerVault MD3 provides the improved data protection, the increased performance and capacity and also expanded potential of virtualization when preserving availability of high-performance arrays at the level up to 99.999%.

Improvements in data protection include the dynamic pools of disks simplifying management and increasing productivity of recovery due to redistribution of data on all disks. It allows to reduce significantly recovery time at failure of disks. In addition to the available opportunities of replication of the Fibre Channel the new feature of remote asynchronous replication based on IP which will provide protection on a case of system failure is provided, will increase the speed of operation of applications and will improve remote support.

New opportunities of software of PowerVault MD3 for implementation and increase in efficiency of applications include support of VMware vStorage APIs for Array Integration (VAAI). It will allow to remove a part of the tasks connected with storage system from the server, having redirected them on PowerVault arrays. Thanks to new features of thin setup, arrays automatically select resources for storage, simplifying and reducing the price of accumulation of volumes.

Dell PowerVault DL4000

For December, 2012 Dell PowerVault DL4000 — the first backup system for the small and medium enterprises based on Dell AppAssure software — provides operational creation of complete backup copies, recovery of critical business applications and data in unforeseen situations, trouble-free integration of program components with a management system. At internal capacity in 5.5 terabyte the ready-made solution in a form factor 1U is fully completed by the reliable software for instant pictures of a system, replication, deduplication and archiving which is responsible for effective use of volumes for backup. The hosting of two virtual reserve machines will provide protection of critical applications on 1–2 servers and operational recovery in unforeseen situations.

Dell PowerVault DL2300

For December, 2012 Dell PowerVault DL2300 — the solution of a corporate class for data protection — represents a combination from the Dell PowerEdge servers of the 12th generation and modern software for data protection of CommVault Simpana 9. The end-to-end system focused on large enterprises - easy-to-customize and already tested - will undertake backup, recovery, replication, archiving and deduplication of physical and virtual servers. A system is completed with the processor of the last generation, and memory reserves completely meet the requirements to a configuration for deduplication of databases, increasing efficiency of backup. The integrated automation on a basis the politician saves time on administration of processes of backup and archiving.

Dell PowerVault NX3610/NX3600, NX3300/NX3200

On September 11, 2012 provided to Dell in Moscow the updated line of the DWH, the corporate products manager Anton Banchukov told journalists at a press conference.

In particular? the Dell PowerVault NX3610/NX3600, NX3300/NX3200 system was provided.

Dell PowerVault NX3610/NX3600, NX3300/NX3200 allows to receive practically the same functions, as EqualLogic FS7600/FS7610, but unification, multilegal, block and file data storage is added to them. A system also has function of data protection on means of asynchronous replication.

"One of unique parameters of a product is one sphere up to a maximum of the physical place", - Banchukov told. "When information in volume is removed over time, a system allows to use a vacant place for storage of new data. Thus a system with a capacity of 1 Gbyte will store actually much more information".

Dell PowerVault DL2200

Archiving and data backup – an obligatory part of work of IT service of any company. Despite the auxiliary nature of these functions, labor input of operations on data backup always remained high. The built-in automatic system of dynamic selection of disk space allows to configure disks for immediate use.

The flexibility of the solution is so high that it allows to recover systems and data at any level: from the separate file, the application or the folder with files to the server entirely. Also virtualized applications — perhaps selective backup and data recovery from the virtualized Microsoft applications of Exchange, SharePoint, the Active Directory and SQL Server are supported. Using one backup copy of guest application servers of VMware or Hyper-V at the level of a host, administrators can recover separate e-mail messages, documents of SharePoint, objects of the Active Directory and a SQL Server database. For this purpose the special environment of recovery is not required, additional virtual machines or resources for selective data recovery are not necessary.

In the solution Dell PowerVault DL2200 the technologies allowing not only to reduce as much as possible time of data backup, but also to consolidate data are used, - it gives the chance allows to release space of storage and to increase efficiency of use of disk resources. In general due to elimination of duplication, cutting of costs for storage on all backup operations as physical, and and virtual systems and also due to decrease in load of a local and global network at backup reducing costs for data storage to 90% is reached.

Dell PowerVault NX3500

As of 2012 PowerVault NX3500 storage system with the Dell Scalable File System file system offers available at the price and scalable functionality of Network Attached Storage (NAS) for creation of infrastructure of storage of small scale, but high readiness. A system works with PowerVault MD32x0i and MD36x0i disk arrays, allowing to implement customers at reasonable price the unified platform of storage with block and file access under the protocols iSCSI, CIFS and NFS. Without having architectural restrictions on the size of the file system, this DWH is designed so that to provide to customers more flexibility in comparison with the traditional unified storage systems. Dell Scalable File System implements the first unified solution of storage in a series of iSCSI Dell PowerVault disk arrays thanks to integration of technology of the highly productive and optimized file system of the next generation from Exanet. DWH of NX3500 offers the means of protecting of data which are also accepted at the price, including snapshots, replication and integration into solutions of backup by means of NDMP.
