"Drill" aerial bomb

According to the state corporation, the Drill bomb has the ability to autonomously reach the desired distance to the target, open to strike over it at the right time. If the striking element does not work on the target, it automatically self-destructs after a certain time. The projectile is designed to neutralize armored vehicles, ground radar stations, control points of power plants and anti-aircraft missile systems.

By January 10, 2024, the Drill bomb successfully passed all the tests that were set by the Russian Defense Ministry. Also by this time, the development of some combat units for bombs is underway.

Retired military expert Colonel Viktor Litovkin, in a conversation with the publication "Лента.ру," said that the Russian aerial bomb "Drill" got its name because of the ability to penetrate almost any armor, be it metal, concrete or earth. It is also capable of hitting multiple targets at the same time.

"Drill" penetrates deeply into the soil, various protective structures, penetrates concrete, metal armor. As it approaches the target, it can split into a certain number of the same smaller diameter bombs. They also plan and punch anything. For example, there are 10 tanks on the march. An ordinary bomb will hit one or two tanks, this one will destroy all 10, - concluded the colonel.[1]
