2022: Implant Announcement
In mid-November 2022, Enovis introduced the DynaNail Helix implant, which complemented the manufacturer's product line in the field of foot and ankle solutions.
DynaNail Helix uses patented nitinol-based materials technology. NiTiNOL technology provides stable dynamic compression for subthalar fusion. Enovis sought to give it an anatomically comfortable design and a simple, screw-like introduction. As a result, the Helix thread allows it to be inserted as a screw, while providing dynamic compression and nail stability, as indicated in the press release.
With an incorrectly fused fracture of the ankle joint, the bones of which it consists, did not fuse properly. This leads to inevitable ankle damage and restrictions in everyday life. The ankle joint is constantly subject to stress. While walking through the lower leg and fibula, the patient assumes the full weight of the body and transfers it to the bones of the foot. During running and jumping exercises, force exceeding body weight can be formed.

Implants are as easy to use as traditional screws, "said Boise foot and ankle surgeon Christopher Hirose. The NiTiNOL DynaNail Helix compression element is supplied pre-stretched and loaded onto a disposable nail rail. The goal is maximum efficiency. Like the screw, according to the developers, its threads provide an easy introduction. In addition, there are no transverse screws. This eliminates the need for orthopedic surgeons to stretch the compression element manually.[1]
