History

2022: Russian electric excavator commissioned

On May 20, 2022, the first Russian electric excavator was announced. We are talking about the EKG-20KM-KhL model developed by IZ-Karteks named after P.G. Korobkov.

This excavator began to be used by the Pavlik gold mining company (Magadan), which, thanks to the use of new equipment, intends to significantly increase the volume of ore processing. The productivity of the EKG-20KM-KhL is estimated at 700-800 thousand cubic meters of rock mass per month.

First Russian electric excavator commissioned

According to Interfax, the model EKG-20KM-KhL designed for Pavlik in a special version - taking into account the climatic conditions of the region. So, in the manufacture of the machine, frost-resistant steel grades were used, withstanding the lowest temperatures - up to minus 60 degrees. In addition, at the initiative of the customer, the volume of the bucket of the new excavator was increased - from 20 cubic meters. m (base model) up to 25 cc. m.

Due to weather conditions, assembly difficulties arose. The temperature dropped to -45 °, it was especially difficult in February, when we first started editing. When we started laying out the cables, we were faced with the peculiarities of the harsh climatic conditions of the Magadan region - our cable products froze, we had to heat it, and this is an additional laborious time. But even with such difficulties, we coped thanks to the professional approach of our team, - said Vasily Zhulanov, head of the service department of IZ-Karteks LLC named after P.G. Korobkova.

The highest point of the excavator from the ground surface to the head blocks is 20 meters, weighing 780 tons. The machine is equipped with a modern fire extinguishing system and an emergency zone, which draws a danger zone around the excavator.

We have very high hopes for this machine, the excavator will help us significantly increase the volume of overburden work, it will work together with Caterpillar 789 D dump trucks on the posting of the upper horizons, to prepare work for future periods, Pavlik said[1]
