EMC CloudPools

EMC CloudPools is the software application for the Isilon expansion on public, private and hybrid clouds.

On November 18, 2015 EMC announced preparation for an output to the EMC CloudPools market.

The most part of all data of the enterprise represent "cold contemporary records" which are seldom used, but are necessary for compliance to requirements of regulators. EMC CloudPools will allow EMC Isilon to place data in public clouds.

The program functionality of Cloud Pools will allow is transparent for users and applications to place data in public clouds Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure and Virtustream without use of the additional cloud gateway. EMC CloudPools will also allow to expand DPC for the account EMC Elastic Cloud Storage (ECS), and at the expense of an additional cluster of EMC Isilon, for example, with more capacious nodes of storage, as a private cloud.

EMC Isilon will be able to expand the namespace due to use of resources of a cloud, at the same time the moved data will be available to users and/or applications in a usual format. Data movement in a cloud is made in a protect mode that allows to guarantee data security. This opportunity will allow the organizations to broaden the lakes of data and to use cloud opportunities, providing at the same time usual and complete data access.

Availability

EMC CloudPools will become available at the beginning of 2016. For November 18, 2015 there is no price information.
