Testing in the Virus Bulletin Lab
In September 2015, ESET announced that ESET Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange Server was tested in the Virus Bulletin lab and received the VETApam + award.
18 email server security solutions were involved in benchmarking for spam detection efficiency and speed. According to the Virus Bulletin methodology, products had to filter more than 165 thousand letters by recognizing messages with malicious content, and prevent erroneous detection of letters from trusted users.
ESET Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange Server showed one of the best results in the test, sending 99.99% of suspicious letters to spam and not allowing a single false response. Experts of Virus Bulletin awarded the ESET product the highest award - VETApam +.
This award was also received by the product BitDefender, which recognized 99.95% of malicious letters and did not allow a single erroneous detection.
For comparison: the Kaspersky Lab solution detected 99.81% of threats in mail traffic and allowed 2 false positives, McAfee - 99.54% of threats and 5 false positives, Sophos - 99.77% of threats and 1 false trigger. These products received the VETApam award.
Virus Bulletin is a British magazine dedicated to information security. The publication studies viral threats and conducts comparative tests of antivirus products in its own test laboratory. ESET products have been participating in Virus Bulletin tests for more than a decade with consistently high results. ESET has more test lab awards than any other antivirus vendor.
