ETegro Eos 420

Product
Developers: ETegro Technologies
Last Release Date: 2015/01/27
Technology: SCS,  Data processing centers are technologies for DPC

ETegro Eos 420 - the Eos 420 switch has 48 ports 10G SFP + and 6 40G of QSFP+ of ports.

The device supports traditional Layer 2/3/4 switching and SDN. Eos 420 is ideal for operators of services Infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS), high-performance computing, applications of high-frequency trade thanks to the high density of ports, not blocked switching and ultralow delays.

ETegro Eos 420

On July 21, 2014 ETegro Technologies announced expansion of a line of network equipment and offers switches without the preset network OS (Bare Metal Switch).

ETegro Eos 420

The new ETegro Eos 420 and Eos 520 models are constructed on the newest matrix of Broadcom Trident 2 with low delays. Eos 420 has 48 ports 10G SFP + and 6 ports 40G QSFP+, has two power supplies and the cooling system with hot swap, such configuration perfectly is suitable for use as Top of Rack (ToR)/leaf of the switch with subscription ratio 2:1.

Leaf-Spine architecture

Within a new paradigm of the organization of network infrastructure of DPC Eos 420 approaches as Leaf of the switch. Top-of-Rack (ToR) the switch has several advantages over traditional three-level approach with switches of core/aggregation/access:

  • only two levels with near optimal subscription ratio
  • it is easy to scale up to tens of racks
  • energy efficiency
  • low delays

Control automation

Cloud computing, Big Data, growth of load of the Internet portals was caused by rapid growth of number of network devices in DPC therefore the possibility of automation of work with network purchases the increasing weight. Support of autoinstallation and integration into the leading management tools the Chef and Puppet configurations facilitates deployment of DPC with a considerable volume of the equipment.

Openness

The ONIE technology (Open Network Installation Environment) allowing to install any compatible network OS and to manage the switch as normal Linux server is used. Support of Cumulus Linux, Open Network Linux and all distribution kits on its basis guarantees the choice of the most convenient network OS and placement of necessary applications on the switch.

Virtualization

The switch is optimized for work in virtual and cloud environments, hardware processing of VXLAN/NVGRE is supported that facilitates migration of virtual machines. It lifts a limit for 4K VLAN and allows to scale network to 16 million virtual networks within the existing L3 network.

SDN

OpenFlow and Open API with scripts on the basis of Python are supported. Advantages of SDN solutions:

  • Direct programming of network: separation of levels of management allows to create architecture directly.
  • Flexibility: The administrator can change rules of network functioning "on the fly" for adaptation to the changed requirements.
  • Centralization of management: All network management is concentrated (logically) in one place, in the SDN controller. For applications the network looks the uniform logical switch.
  • Program configuring: SDN allows to configure, manage, set safety rules, to optimize network resources in a short time using the automated means, including own development.

Implementation of such solution allows to lower time for input of new services and reconfiguration of network since weeks till several o'clock.

2015

the switch for SDN networks -  ETegro Eos 300 G2 Is released

On January 27, 2015 the ETegro Technologies company announced an exit  of ETegro Eos 300 G2 - the switch for SDN networks in the BMS series with a possibility of wire connection of the equipment.

The switch with a possibility of the choice of OS (Bare Metal Switch, BMS) from ETegro Technologies ETegro Eos 300 G2 company  is created on a high-performance matrix of Broadcom Trident 2 with 48 ports 1/10GbE Base-T RJ-45 and 6 fiber optic 40 GbE QSFP+.

The switch is delivered with the set ONIE environment (Open Network Installation Environment) that allows to use any compatible network OS and to manage the switch as normal Linux server.

OS are among the supported distribution kits: Cumulus Linux and Open Network Linux. It is supported both traditional switching of Layer 2/3/4, and work in software-defined networks (SDN).

ETegro Eos 300 G2 can be used as the switch of level of a rack (Top-of-Rack) in DPCs, an environment of Infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS), in networks of architecture Leaf-Spine and corporate environments.

The device is characterized 1.44 Tbps with a high performance of switching matrix and the speed of redirection of 64-byte packets up to 1071 million packets per second (1071 Mpps), failsafe architecture with duplication of supply systems and coolings.

The switch is optimized for work in virtual and cloud environments and supports hardware processing of VXLAN that facilitates migration of virtual machines. It lifts a limit for 4K VLAN and allows to scale network to 16 million virtual networks within the existing L3 network.
