2021: Using virtual reality to simulate a flight on the Eagle ship

At the end of March 2021, it became known that in Russia they are beginning to use virtual reality to work out access to the moon. The new technology will be tested by participants in a two-week isolation experiment called "Sketch," which will be held on the basis of the Institute of Biomedical Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences  in Moscow in mid-April.

A helmet and a unique hanging system that will simulate lunar gravity will be tested. These funds will be used in the future for experiments of long-term isolation, they are also planned to be used to train planetary activities on the Moon and Mars, "said Sergey Ponomarev, an employee of the institute, to TASS.

The experiment will simulate a flight on the manned ship Eagle. The possibility of creating such an apparatus, which is a lightweight modification of the Eagle ship , became known  at the end of 2020.

The crew will include four men and two women - employees of the Institute of Biomedical Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

One goal of the experiment is to assess the stress level of the crew during the acute period of adaptation to isolation in the containment. The size of the available space for the life of the participants will be similar to the volume of the Orlenok spacecraft, which is being developed by the Energia Rocket and Space Corporation for flying the moon.

According to Ponomarev, previous experiments show that the largest number of changes in the immune system are recorded not during the experiment itself, but before it.

Waiting is a key stressful factor. And we can assume that the changes that we can observe in the immune system can be caused by psycho-emotional tension realized through neuro-endocrine mechanisms, "he said.[1]
