Xiria is the compact distributor up to 20 kV with air insulation.

2019: Certification of FGC UES

On January 30, 2019 the Eaton company announced completion of tests of the next generation of KRU.

According to the company, certification of the equipment it was made in STC of FGC UES. The technical base of the organization allows to test on resistance to end-to-end currents of KZ, arc resistance of insulators and the isolating constructions, switching and localization capability, having heated rated currents, explosion safety, etc. The certificate is received on family of Xiria devices which include the monoblock, expanded version, and measurement cells.

As the arc-suppressing environment in Xiria Family devices the vacuum is applied, current carrying parts are completely isolated, and cells completely meet requirements imposed by regulating documents. The resistance to internal arc short circuit corresponds to the class AFLR.

One of features of KRU of Xiria Family is replacement of safety locks with compact protective relays. Thanks to it including, all mechanisms of the device do not need special service during all life. Vacuum time cut-outs and switches of loading are a part of Xiria Family. If necessary they can be equipped with additional contacts for signaling and the motor drive that allows to use remote control of power supply. Monoblocks of Xiria Family are placed in the metal body. In combination with incremental isolation of all current-carrying parts it minimizes risk of any internal accidents and provides the high level of security at operation of the device. Provision of time cut-outs and disconnectors is controlled visually. In total with mechanical blocking this solution ensures the maximum safety for personnel.

In addition to this KRU of Xiria Family do not contain elegaz. Along with ecological purity this feature allows to secure the procedure of utilization of devices completely. The lack of an elegaz in construction considerably increases maintainability of devices. Also distinctive feature of KRU of Xiria Family is the opportunity for work at low temperatures: in addition, Xiria passed tests for functioning at a temperature of -50 °C.

2018: A hundred-thousandth cell of Xiria without elegaz

On October 15, 2018 the Eaton company announced release of a hundred-thousandth cell of Eaton Xiria, the distributor of the medium voltage working without use of an elegaz (SF6).

As explained in Eaton, elegaz — the good insulator, but also and greenhouse gas: it promotes global warming and is in this respect 26,000 times more harmful than a carbon dioxide gas. For this reason in Europe use of an elegaz is forbidden in the majority of spheres, including production of sports shoes and tennis balls. For distributors of high and medium voltage in 2014 the clause was accepted, however the European Commission considers the possibility of a total ban of an elegaz in distributors of medium voltage by 2020 therefore equipment manufacturers think of transition to ecologically harmless alternatives. So, Eaton applies vacuum and firm isolation in construction of the products to provide the maximum reliability and not to do much harm to the environment.

Cells of Eaton Xiria provide power management and protection of electric equipment on utility companies and in commercial buildings. Xiria, according to the producer, is appreciated compactness and the minimum need for service that it allows to reduce operating costs.

2017: Localization of production of monoblocks of Xiria in Russia

The companies Eaton and "BaltEnergoMash" announced on July 31 the beginning of localization of equipment manufacturing of medium voltage of new type with firm isolation. Based on production capacities of BaltEnergoMash the joint release of compact Eaton Xiria distributors will be adjusted.

Under the terms of the agreement signed by two companies on June 8, 2017 Eaton will begin localization of production of monoblock cells of Xiria which are characterized by the high level of reliability and operational security. The company will for the first time perform partial technology transfer of production of the electrotechnical products: for production of the Xiria systems on the production site of the partner tanks with switches and buses will be delivered, BaltEnergoMash will manufacture the external body, to complete the equipment with the auxiliary systems and elements and also if necessary to finish solutions under requirements of customers.

Start of localization of production Xiria is an important step in development of partnership with Eaton — the chief executive of BaltEnergoMash Alexey Troshin said. — At present the staff of BaltEnergoMash is trained at the Eaton plant to Hengelo, the Netherlands, and start of full production is expected in September of this year. The expected extent of localization of production Xiria at the first stage will make 50% and will allow to reduce the final cost of the equipment for the customer at permanently high quality of products of Eaton company

2016: Announcement of Xiria

On October 20, 2016 the Eaton company provided the compact Xiria distributor. According to the statement of the company, the device is manufactured of ecological materials.

As the isolating environment the pure dehydrated air, as the arc-suppressing environment – a vacuum is used. Such construct provides maintainability of the equipment and allows to use the distributor at subzero temperatures (to -50 °C). It is easy to dismantle the device at the end of service life. Existence of marking of materials allows reuse, it cuts down expenses on processing and utilization of the equipment.

The device is executed in the form of a monoblock. Vacuum time cut-outs and switches of loading. Current of combined buses 630 A. Execution options: 2, 3, 4 or 5 sections. Electronic relay of protection. Does not contain elegaz.

Specifications

The complete Xiria distributor is equipped with vacuum time cut-outs and switches of loading. Rated current of combined buses of device 630 A The rated working current of the switch of loading makes 630 A. Rated working current of time cut-out 200 or 500 A.

Remote control and signaling

The time cut-out and the switch of loading can be equipped with additional contacts for signaling, the coil of independent unhooking and the motor drive that opens ample opportunities of remote control.

Readiness for automated management of networks

Thanks to modular construction a system can be quickly and it is easily scaled that provides a possibility of future improvements in the field of automation and operating control.

Influence of the environment

Vacuum chambers, combined buses and the disconnector are located in the steel hermetic cabinet filled with a dry air and soldered on all service life. Similar construction excludes influence of the environment on work of primary parts and mechanisms of the device.

Visible gap

Construction of the distributor provides a possibility of visual control of provision of the time cut-out (the loading switch) and disconnector provisions that in total with the necessary number of mechanical blocking ensures the maximum safety for operation personnel.

Reuse of materials

The complete Xiria distributor is executed of the environmentally friendly materials which are subject to further processing and reuse. In particular, the device does not contain elegaz (SF6) which is greenhouse gas and is harmful to an ozone layer. At influence of high temperatures decay products of an elegaz are poisonous and constitute high danger to service staff.

The Xiria distributor is executed according to the last international standards IEC:

  • IEC 62271-100 High-voltage time cut-outs
  • IEC 62271-102 High-voltage disconnectors and grounding conductors of alternating current
  • IEC 62271-103 High-voltage circuit-breakers of loading
  • IEC 62271-200 the Complete distributors of alternating current in the metal body expected rated voltage from 1 to 52 kV inclusive
