2024: Start of production

In early April 2024, it became known that mass production of the new Gran electronic reconnaissance complex (EER) had begun in Russia. The solution is designed to protect various facilities, in particular, refineries from attacks by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

The developers of the novelty from the Loktar volunteer project, which includes specialists and engineers from the field of IT and communications, told the Izvestia newspaper about the Gran system. It is claimed that the "Edge" is the first device of its kind working in the reconnaissance and strike complex of the tactical link. The device significantly speeds up the work of the electronic warfare link, UAV operators, and can also protect civilian objects from drone attack.

Usually, when determining the target, the fighter needs to analyze the radio broadcast, identify the enemy and transmit information about the target from two directions to the command post. It can take up to 30 minutes to perform all these operations, after which the coordinates of the target are sent to the mortars. With the "Gran" system, one person takes no more than 10 minutes to perform all these actions: thanks to this, the efficiency of the enemy's equipment is significantly increased. Moreover, in the case of the operation of two complexes in a pair, the target is said to be detected and sent to kill instantly.

The "edge" can control all frequencies used for drone operation, provides information transfer at the ranges required for the battlefield. In addition, additional communication channels and quick information exchange between fighters are supported. The device weighs about 400 grams. As an information interface, the device uses a tactical smartphone or tablet that is integrated with a power system, an additional communication channel, a spectrum analyzer and a directional antenna.

It is noted that "Gran" is a dual-use product that "allows you to transfer technologies and methods of military confrontation to protect civilian facilities."[1]
