Elbrus-401 is the computer equipped with the Russian operating system, it is focused on consumers with increased requirements to information security.
About the Product
On November 19, 2015 it became known of release on JSC Izhevsk Radio Plant of Elbrus-401 personal computers. The customer - IRZ JSC MCST company[1].
The final product received the name "Automated Workplace Elbrus 401-PC". Elbrus-4C is developed on the platform of the microprocessor and intended for the equipment of the automated jobs (AJ) of operators, the organization of microservers and information terminals, uses in industrial automation and systems with increased requirements to information security[2].
Elbrus-401 (2015)
"Automated workplace Elbrus 401-PC" is executed in the minitower body. A set of peripheral interfaces acts on the motherboard: Gigabit Ethernet, SATA 2.0, IDE, USB 2.0, RS-232, DVI (the built-in video card is used). On a payment the seat is provided and the microSATA format SSD disk is set. There is a PCI-Express connector h16 (8 lines are used), allowing to set expansion cards or 3D - the video card of the Radeon AMD family (it is set in a regular configuration). The IDE interface is brought to the CompactFlash card connector (it is used for needs of the binary translator).
Basic OS for automated workplace Elbrus 401-PC - Elbrus. It is created on the basis of a kernel of Linux and supports a set of open source applications, including the editor of AbiWord, the spreadsheet of GNumeric, the Firefox browser, the client of e-mail. There are means for development of the application software, tests for self-diagnostics of the equipment.

Automated workplace Elbrus 401-PC allows to start the operating systems intended for start on x86/Õ86-64 Intel platform, first of all Windows XP and different Linux options. This opportunity is provided with the hardware-software system of binary translation.

Structure of the software automated workplace Elbrus 401-PC
- Elbrus operating system. Elbrus OS provides a multitask, multiprocessor and protect mode of work.
- Programming system. Provides a possibility of creation of own software products in programming languages of Si, Si ++, the Fortran and the Elbrus Assembler. It is delivered together with high-performance library of the mathematical eml functions. There is Anjuta integrated development environment.
- System of binary translation. Provides execution on architecture automated workplace Elbrus 401-PC of the programs prepared for accomplishment on architecture of Intel h86, Intel h86-64 and extended in binary codes.
- Testing system. As a part of automated workplace Elbrus 401-PC software, intended for its testing is delivered diagnostic.
- Complex of utility and user programs. Contains system utilities and popular applications open source (LibreOffice, Firefox, Sylpheed, Linphone, GIMP, etc.). Includes graphic libraries Qt and GTK.

2017: Testing of Smart IDReader on 5 computer systems Elbrus
The Smart Engines company in December, 2017 held comparative testing of Smart IDReader on 5 computer systems with processors Elbrus. During tests possibilities of complexes for solving of tasks of computer vision were compared.

2016: Organization of serial production
On December 30, 2016 the MCST company announced the organization of serial production of personal computers "Elbrus-401 RS". In connection with decrease in production costs retail price, says the producer is reduced.
JSC MCST completed a cycle of preparation of mass production of computers "Elbrus-401 RS". The system unit, the monitor with diagonal 23 inches, the keyboard, a mouse and the preset Elbrus operating system are their part. The retail cost of the device is equal in modification of B (the clock rate of the processor makes 750 MHz) to 199 thousand rubles (including VAT).
"Elbrus-401 RS" - the first Russian personal computer based on domestic Elbrus-4C microprocessors. Emergence of prototypes of this product it was announced in May, 2015. Since then the MCST company adjusted cooperation of the domestic enterprises - contract producers, debugged circuitry solutions, optimized cost parameters.
The main technology operations on production of computers "Elbrus-401 RS", including surface mount of printed circuit boards, are manufactured in Russia. By the end of 2016 production volume of computers is estimated in several hundred thousands of copies a year.
