Ericsson 5G Core System

Product
Developers: Ericsson
Date of the premiere of the system: 2017/02/19
Branches: Telecommunication and communication
Technology: SCS

For February 21, 2017 a goal of Ericsson of a 5G of Core System - technology with the integrated support NFV SDN (virtualizations of network functions in the distributed cloud structures) and with support of network segmentation (network slicing).

Main scopes of a system, (2017)

The Core Ericsson platform 5G is characterized by a possibility of its installation on the basis of the operating radio-frequency infrastructures of the company. A system is ready to any options of integration on a global scale, including use of frequency ranges 6 GHz and higher than 6 GHz are lower. Ericsson of a 5G of Core supports a 5G technology of massive MIMO and multi-user MIMO configurations.

Ericsson of a 5G of Core supports work of technologies of virtual (VR) and augmented reality (AR) in the joint network.

2017: Start of intercontinental 5G network

On February 21, 2017 the companies Ericsson, Deutsche Telekom and SK Telecom declared the organization of intercontinental test network of fifth generation (5G).

At the heart of a system the 5G platform of Ericsson company works. 5G network connected Germany (Deutsche Telekom) and South Korea (SK Telecom).

Feature of intercontinental 5G network - use of technology of "slicing" (network slicing) - network segmentation, it allows operators to configure functionality and settings of service in network, and for subscribers of the joint network opens access to usual home services in roaming[1].

The 5G is not just network at higher data transfer rate. Technologies 5G provide the user experience at any time and in any place. Slicing of the general network gives to operators the general platform based on which it is possible to render to subscribers of service with the guaranteed quality level.

5G networks are necessary for all industries. Network segmentation is of great importance for a 5G as allows to configure virtual networks under needs of the user. The first intercontinental 5G network allowed us to show how slicing allows to provide to subscribers usual services of a home network abroad.

Use of segmentation in 5G networks allows operators to open networks for the partners for rendering services to their subscribers in roaming. For this purpose operators need to sign the agreement within which in guest network network segment of other operator is created. By the agreement such aspects as ensuring work of technologies of access (cellular and fixed connection) should be provided in a segment of foreign network and support of user applications.
