Eucalyptus 3.2 provides self-service of users regarding selection of computing and network resources and resources of data storage. The software console allows to perform various transactions of self-service, including selection of copies of OS, creation of cryptographic couples of keys and passwords, transactions with EBS volumes (Elastic Block Store) and instant pictures, listing and registration of directories of images, transactions with user groups and with the selected addresses Elastic IP.

The improved functionality of reports on operation of a cloud allows administrators to understand easily how cloud resources are used, to perform interdepartmental calculations for an expense of resources and simplifies planning of performance. Administrators of a cloud can see extent of use of computing powers, operational and disk memory at the level of the user, group and all cloud, to generate and export reports through GIP, API or the command line and to save all this information in the external database.

Simplifications in administration by a cloud concerned also the improved functions of maintaining logs of events for faster diagnostics and problem solving. And the strengthened controller of the Eucalyptus 3.2 nodes increases stability and fault tolerance of applications, as well as reliability of all cloud.

Here what is told about this product by Thomas Morse, the director of App Dynamics of IT and use of software as service: 'In our tests we constantly are required to support about 6000 parallel connections approximately to 20 tested applications from the different groups which are on different development phases. Advanced support of data storage in Eucalyptus is implemented using two new adapters. JBOD Storage Adaptor is placed over functionality of Elastic Block Store (EBS) over primary block devices and simple arrays of disks (JBOD) and as the company reports, provides a full support of the transactions AWS EBS API. Other adapter, EMC VNX SAN Storage Adaptor, serves for expanded support of SAN when using for the EBS systems of network data storage of the EMC VNX series and provides the high level of readiness of Eucalyptus Storage Controller, expanded support of VNX pictures and support of transfer on different ways for increase in fault tolerance.

New features of a product are created on the base of its previous release of Eucalyptus 3.1 which became the general platform for the enterprises and community of an open source code allowing both to conduct cloud developments, and to manage cloud computing.

2015

Eucalyptus was a part of HP Helion

On March 13, 2015 the HP company announced release of the update of a product of HP of Helion Eucalyptus 4.1 — now as a part of HP Helion portfolio.

It is the first product output of Eucalyptus under the Helion brand from the moment of acquisition of the company in September, 2014. In HP Helion Eucalyptus 4.1 advantages are implemented:

• compatibility with AWS Cloud Formation: templates of deployment of applications accelerate delivery of services and reduce quantity of the errors connected using difficult configurations. Use of the ready AWS Cloud Formation templates allows the existing and potential customers to deploy quickly the new service in own private cloud of HP of Helion Eucalyptus.

• HP Helion Eucalyptus Cloud Manager: this web tool includes the interface for management S3 - compatible storage of objects. Any more separate tools for creation, change and removal of memory blocks, for their unloading and loading are not required. All functions are available in the browser. They can be used in clouds of HP of Helion Eucalyptus and AWS.

Existence of Eucalyptus as a part of a portfolio of HP Helion provides flexibility of deployment of workloads of AWS in a cloud environment (private or managed). Thus, users receive an economic alternative to a public cloud which is attached to a certain supplier.

To HP Helion Eucalyptus it is available as the private, managed or hybrid cloud solution. Customers can select that option which will correspond to their requirements.
