2025: PepsiCo replaces sugar in Russia with dangerous sweeteners that cause diarrhea
At the end of May 2025, it became known that PepsiCo replaced sugar in drinks on the Russian market with dangerous sweeteners. These substances, according to network sources, can provoke disorders of the gastrointestinal tract, including diarrhea.
PepsiCo has secretly replaced sugar with sweeteners in Everwess cola, Mash reports. According to gastroenterologist Nikita Kharlov, a mixture of sweeteners - acesulfame potassium, aspartame, cyclamate, saccharin and phenylalanine - was found in this drink. In addition, the manufacturer adds sodium benzoate, sodium citrate, gum arabic and potassium sorbate to the named coke. It is claimed that the combination of these substances can lead to diarrhea after consuming about one and a half liters of soda.
I don't know what kind of soda it is, but they put everything in it that can give a liquid chair, "Harlov emphasizes. |
Earlier, as Mash emphasizes, the sugar substitute appeared in Beloved Coke, which is also produced at PepsiCo. The company itself claims that the use of sugar substitutes is a necessary measure. PepsiCo also notes that as of the end of May 2025, the company had not received complaints about side effects from its products.[1]
