On December 20, 2022, Insightec announced the launch of the Exablate Neuro system for the treatment of essential tremor.

Essential tremor usually affects both sides of the body, according to a press release from Insightec. Exablate Neuro allows eligible patients to receive treatment on the second side at least nine months after treatment on the first side.

The Exablate Neuro system uses focused sound waves guided safely by MRI. The device provides treatment of tremor in patients with drug refractory essential tremor and Parkinson's disease.

Very often, patients who have been helped to reduce first-party tremor treatment are asked about second-party treatment. This endorsement paves the way for them to do so. We are pleased that patients with essential tremor have the opportunity to eventually receive focused ultrasound treatment on both sides of the brain, "said Maurice Ferre, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Insightec.

Insightec said the study it sponsored included 51 patients at seven centers. The USA study evaluated the safety and efficacy of Exablate Neuro for six months. The data demonstrated a significant reduction in tremor after treatment of the second side of the patient. The results turned out to be long and persisted for at least six months of follow-up. According to the company, this corresponds to the results of the treatment of the first party.

According to the developers, the study demonstrated a significant improvement in functional disability. This suggests a clinically significant impact on everyday life. This includes eating, drinking and writing letters. Patients reported that most of the adverse events in the study were mild. Exablate Neuro has demonstrated the same safety profile in the treatment of the second party as in the treatment of the first party.[1]
