External APC batteries for smartphones and tablets

In November, 2014 Schneider Electric began deliveries to Russia of a new product line of APC – external additional batteries for smartphones and tablets. At the time of release the line is provided by two devices – M5 and M10 with a capacity of 5000 mAh and 10000 mAh respectively.

According to statements of developers, there will be enough capacity of the mobile M10 battery to load once of iPad 2 or more of three times – the Galaxy Note S3 smartphone. The battery with twice smaller capacity is intended for partial recharge.

Both models of a line available in black and white colors are equipped with two ports USB through which it is possible to connect and charge at the same time two mobile devices with a joint current no more than 2.1 Ampere. Can be charged batteries from the computer through the cable which is included in the package with the mini-USB connector and also from the power supply network by means of the special adapter.

M5 model weighs 142 grams, and M10 model, big on volume, – 243 grams. Batteries are equipped with the system of protection against overheating to prevent their damage at excess loading or hot weather conditions.

Schneider Electric notes that in 2006 their company already brought to the market a line of batteries for mobile devices, however two-three years later contracted their sales.Pyotr Petrov, the manager on single-phase products of APC by Schneider Electric in Russia and the CIS, explained TAdviser that at the time of the first start of similar products trends were others: smartphones only just appeared in the market, and tablets were not. Therefore the range of external batteries was focused on notebooks which accumulators then were inferior on capacity to modern.

Production of external accumulators was phased down because priorities of Schneider Electric changed, Pyotr Petrov says. Now, in connection with market development of smartphones and tablets, the company had interest in these devices again.

Did not install the recommended retail prices on external Schneider Electric batteries, the representative of the company added. By data Yandex.Market, at the time of release the cost of M10 model varies in the range about 3000-3500 rub, and M5 is about 2000-2500 rub. Distribution of new products to Russia is performed by four companies:OCS,Marvel,Treolan and Merlion.

Speaking about the competition in this segment in Russia, Pyotr Petrov notes that the niche is quite busy, however products of large brands in it are almost not provided. Generally such batteries offer or the local companies collecting the products in China or producers of different accessories, he says.
