BIG-IP Application Acceleration Manager (AAM) is the module by means of which it is possible to increase performance of network infrastructure of DPC, servers and applications.
The mechanisms of optimization of data transmission implemented in the module will help to unload application servers, to improve work of clients, both traditional operating systems, and mobile devices. The list of these mechanisms includes unloading of SSL, an intellectual compression of data, caching of a static and dynamic content (where it is admissible and it is possible), optimization of data transfer protocols and so forth.
Properties
- optimization of data transmission from application servers to the end user
- optimization of data transmission between servers in geographically distributed DPCs
- acceleration of process of delivery of annexes to end customers
- simplification of infrastructure.
The integrated optimization of delivery of applications
BIG-IP AAM works at a basis of the unified F5 TMOS platform that allows integration of problems of delivery of applications and WAN optimization, simplifying a solution architecture. It helps to solve problems of acceleration of applications:
- unloading of SSL,
- compression of transmitted data,
- caching,
- optimization of delivery of video,
- deduplication of transmitted data
- others.
Support of F5 iControl API and F5 iRule helps to configure data transmission acceleration.
BIG-IP AAM integrates in itself the mechanisms providing optimization of infrastructure of data centers, optimization of data transmission and delivery of applications.
Optimization of data transmission in DPC
Optimization of data transmission, 2014
BIG-IP AAM helps to increase efficiency and performance of data transmission in infrastructure of DPC and also to increase the speed of availability of applications to clients.
Optimization mechanisms:
- symmetric deduplication of transmitted data (WAN optimization)
- use as a cache, as RAM, and SSD disks that will allow to cache large volumes of data without damage of performance
- acceleration of work of SSL by unloading of problems of enciphering at the expense of what the capacity of application servers increases up to 50%
- Parking Lot is technology which will allow to reduce considerably the number of the sessions set from the client to the server (at the mass appeal to the same content) because BIG-IP AAM independently requests a demanded resource from the server, places it in a cache and only then gives data to clients who requested it.
Optimization of transport
BIG-IP AAM helps to solve problems of unloading of SSL, optimization of applications and network protocols. Mechanisms:
- the flexible symmetric compression increases capacity of a system due to reduction of volume of transmitted data. BIG-IP AAM automatically selects a compression method (deflate, bzip2 or LZO) or does not make a compression if data cannot be compressed
- Forward Error Correction allows to make control of delivery of packets and to correct errors without resending of data. Can work, both between two BIG-IP devices, and between BIG-IP and the client software – BIG-IP Edge Client
- optimization of the HTTP protocol selects the most suitable HTTP and TCP parameters of sessions for each client
- TCP optimization
- support of Multipath TCP (MPTCP).
Optimization of delivery of applications
BIG-IP AAM in details analyzes transmitted data and ensures the most effective functioning with them:
- optimization of a streaming video (HTTP Live Streaming) by caching of segments of video
- SPDY gateway
- optimization of performance of web applications
- caching of a dynamic content where it is acceptable (e.g., dynamic data which change with a certain predictable frequency).
Monitoring of performance
BIG-IP AAM keeps statistics about system performance and data transmission channels that can always be seen online.
