2018: Start around the world

On August 29, 2018 the world's largest social network Facebook announced start of the video platform. The competitor of YouTube who received the name Watch is intended for placement of video blogs, forward translations of different events and author's shows.

Today we make Facebook Watch available everywhere and we give to people around the world the new chance to open for ourselves fine videos and to communicate with their creators, friends and other fans — the head of department of video projects of Facebook of Fiji Simo (Fidji Simo) said.

Watch represents the platform in Facebook social network which allows to subscribe for videos created by users and brands. Since August 30 creators of rollers will also be able to use the system of monetization Ad Breaks which at first will be available to residents of Britain, of Ireland, Australia and New Zealand, and in September, 2018 will be started in 21 countries.

Facebook started the competitor of YouTube around the world

Facebook submitted own video platform in August, 2018. At first it was available only to residents of the USA, and a year later became opened for all users in the world. This service started for distribution of exclusive content, the company tries to compete with YouTube and Twitch which attract the interested audience and successfully it is monetized.

According to Fiji Simo, by the end of August, 2018 the audience of Facebook Watch reached 50 million users who start service not less once a month. The head of development of content and the strategy of Facebook Mathew Henik noted that within the video platform the American publishers already created the whole ecosystem of content including a set of news, entertaining and sports shows. Users get 55% of income from advertizing in Watch, the rest — Facebook.[1]
