2019: Tests of the Far Eastern Military District-3L ceilometer

On April 30, 2019 the Rostec State corporation reported that the Schwabe holding until the end of 2019 will test the Far Eastern Military District-3L ceilometer in the Russian airfields. The device is intended for determination of height of the lower bound of clouds in priaeroportovy zones that allows to predict changes of weather conditions precisely. Development of "Lytkarinsky Plant of Optical Glass" (LPOG) represents the laser pulse ranging sensor remotely measuring distance from the earth to the lower bound of clouds.

Use of measuring instruments of height of clouds – the mandatory requirement to the airports and airfields. Exact meteorological forecasts allow to predict change of weather conditions and to increase security at take off and landing of aircrafts.

As noted in Rostec, the main difference of the provided product from the previous models – the service interval raised by 16 times. It managed to achieve due to application in construction as a radiation source of the junction laser service life up to 8 years. Earlier as a source the pulse lamp requiring replacement each 4-6 months was used. All components of the ceilometer of domestic production.

The Far Eastern Military District-3L ceilometer brings all necessary information to the control panel with the color touch display. For comparison, models of the previous generation displayed information on the indicator, and buttons and other controls were mechanical.

"The device supplements the wide nomenclature of developments of Rostec for security of flights of civil aviation. Trial operation of the Far Eastern Military District-3L will take place in four airfields in different regions of the country. Ceilometers will be installed around a runway, then, in use, the meteorologist and the instrument operator will note in the magazine of violation of working capacity, convergence of results with the main ceilometers at different types of overcast and its height, an atmospheric precipitation and fog. Approximate terms of tests – 3-4 quarters 2019. Based on trial operation terms of serial production will be determined".
