2021: Meniscus Recovery System Announcement

In early July 2021, Smith & Nephew introduced the Fast-Fix Flex meniscus recovery system. The device, which offers a surgeon-controlled flexible needle and rod, provides access to all meniscus areas, which provides long-term benefit to the patient.

The company's new Fast-Fix Flex system uses a comprehensive approach that eliminates the need for incisions, also reduces the risk of neurovascular injuries and ensures the effectiveness of procedures to speed up work.

Smith & Nephew noted that the product, which is now commercially available in the United States and some other countries, supports an additional needle and rod bending function. The novelty provides surgeons with access to mid- and anterior meniscus zones that were unavailable in previous Fast-Fix devices.

The ability to personalize the degree of curvature according to the type of rupture in the patient eliminates the need to change portals or use several methods while preserving meniscus tissue during the repair procedure. With one of the smallest needles in the universal device category and smooth, low-profile anchors, Fast-Fix Flex provides a 25% reduction in needle insertion area, while the efficiency of the procedure is increased by 20% compared to the previous generation of devices.
