2021: Preparation for production of Ford E-Transit in Russia
March 23, 2021 it became known that Ford is preparing for the production of electric vehicles in Russia. We are talking about the Ford E-Transit electric van, the assembly of which at the Sollers company will begin in 2022. More details here.
2020: Ford E-Transit electric van announcement
In mid-November 2020, Ford introduced a fully electric version of its popular Transit cargo van with the ability to connect vehicles to a common control system. E-Transit will have a smaller battery and a smaller range than most passenger electric vehicles released in recent years, but Ford believes this is more than enough to meet customers' needs.
E-Transit is the second major electric vehicle to be released as part of Ford's electrification project in 2022. The electric van will be supplied with a 76 kWh battery, which should provide a range of 126 miles. According to the analysis conducted by the company, the average daily mileage of a Ford Transit customer is only 76 miles, since these vans are used to deliver from the storage point to the customer's home or office, so that the reserve will be enough to meet their needs.
The price should also correspond to the clientele, said Ford. If the company chose a larger battery with a large travel margin, the price would increase, which means that E-Transit would become inaccessible to those customers on whom it is focused. So far, the recommended price is $45 000 - about 28% more than the price of a non-electric Transit van. At the same time, customers from USA will receive a federal tax benefit of $7500.
Fleet operators can use the SYNC 4 operating system of the car to monitor the driver: does he not exceed the speed, does he fasten the belt, does he leave the engine on in the parking lot. There is also a Driver ID feature that gives fleet operators the ability to connect certain drivers with their vehicles. Owners will also be able to remotely monitor their cars outside working hours and receive warnings if one of them was stolen, used without permission or damaged during parking.[1]
