Banana Pi is the platform for creation of miniature PCs and the built-in systems.

On September 22, 2014 the Foxconn company submitted the Banana Pi platform for creation of miniature PCs and the built-in systems.

The product represents the functional computer which dimensions do not exceed 92х60 mm and weight about 50 g. It is intended, first of all, for corporate users and enthusiasts as support of the open source software allows to program a system without restrictions of the sphere of use.

Specific Features

The computer can:

  • work in the form of a cloud server,
  • manage home electric devices,
  • service the system of protection,
  • work as the media center or the remote control for toys,
  • work as the starting system of games,
  • decode HD video flows
  • many other things.

According to the announcement Foxconn, the high potential of a system is provided with support of several operating systems: Google Android Debian Ubuntu and Raspbian.

In a system the AllWinner A20 dual-core processor on the basis of ARM Cortex-A7 cores with own graphic Mali-400MP2 chip, 1 GB of RAM of DDR3 is preset (uses together with the graphic processor).

Storage of user data is possible on the memory cards SD, on hard drives with the SATA interface. Two ports USB 2.0 and the traditional 3.5-mm audioconnector, video output - via the HDMI, LVDS, AV and CVBS interfaces are available to connection of the external periphery.

Access to network and the Internet by means of the Ethernet RJ45 interface capacity of 10-1000 Mbps. Among other hardware features of Banana Pi in Foxconn noted the built-in IR-port for work with remote controls, the microphone and the OTG connector.

The product differs in low power consumption: there is enough energy from MicroUSB port (a power supply can go also from the classical socket via the adapter).

Foxconn Banana Pi is expected on sale at the end of the fourth quarter 2014 at the recommended retail price of $50-55.
