2021: Foxconn unveils first electric vehicles
In mid-October 2021, Foxconn, known for assembling iPhone, introduced its first electric vehicles. The line is called the Foxconn Model. With this initiative, the Taiwanese manufacturer emphasized ambitious plans to diversify its role in electronics production for Apple and other companies. The vehicles presented - an SUV, a sedan and a bus - were produced by Foxtron, a joint venture between Foxconn and Taiwanese automaker Yulon Motor.
The presentation was held in Taipei with the participation of Foxconn Chairman of the Board of Directors Young Liu.
We're not new to this business anymore. We gradually built a supply chain of components for electric vehicles and demonstrated our hardware for them, "he said at the ceremony. |
It is known that the Model C SUV will consume 13.4 kWh per 100 km of track. The car is able to accelerate to 100 km/h for 3.8 s. The rear doors of the electric car open at an angle of 70 degrees. The manufacturer notes that this will simplify access to the car for elderly passengers. This model will initially be available in Taiwan in 2023, after which it will be introduced in other markets.
The Model E sedan, equipped with a 750 horsepower engine, can accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in just 2.8 seconds. The electric vehicle range without recharging reaches 750 km. The development of this model was carried out with the participation of the Italian design company Pininfarina. Model E has a streamlined body, its shape resistance coefficient is 0.22.
The Model T electric bus is capable of speeds up to 120 km/h, the range of the car without recharging is 400 km. The vehicle is equipped with intelligent sensors that alert pedestrians to a sound signal that they are in a hazardous area. Also, the driver's help system notifies about the approach of the bus to obstacles or pedestrians.[1][2]
