Fujifilm SX800 (surveillance camera)

2019: Announcement

At the end of July, 2019 Fujifilm entered the market of surveillance cameras. The first device from the Japanese company is capable to read out car numbers at distance to 1 km.

The Fujifilm SX800 surveillance camera will recognize a car number from 1000 meters

The model under name Fujifilm SX800 is allocated 40-fold, a lens with focal distance from 20 to 800 mm  (in a 35-mm equivalent) and an auto focus which works in 0.3 seconds. With additional 1.25-fold digital increase the focal distance reaches 1000 mm that just provides recognition of license plate numbers of vehicles at a distance to 1000 meters.

Besides, developers are provided a stabilization system of the image and function of processing of the personnel which can increase visibility during fog or a heat. Range of photosensitivity of ISO reaches 819,200 for night shooting.

The producer published the video in which showed possibilities of the camera. In particular, it was shown that SX800 allows to consider the plate which holds in hand of people at a distance of 1.5 km and also to watch the events on the platform of a television tower of Tokyo from distance in 3 km.

The camera is capable to compensate a correction angle ± 0.22 ° at any focal distance that allows to reach the highest indicators of stabilization of the image, speak in Fujifilm. The camera is suitable for use at big height, in strong wind and also in other places where there can be strong vibrations, including near the highway and at the airports.

As notes The Verge, consumer cameras with larger zoom are already presented at the market — for example, the Nikon P1000 model has a 125-fold  optical zoom with a range of focal distances from 24 to 3000 mm. The structure of Fujifilm differs in presence of several functions which bring real benefit of shooting at long distances.

The beginning of sales of Fujifilm SX800 is planned for July 26, 2019. The innovation price at the time of the announcement is not set.^[1]
