Fujitsu Intelliedge Edge Computing Appliance is the intellectual peripheral platform for the Industry 4.0.

2017: Announcement

The Fujitsu company submitted on November 8, 2017 the Intelliedge Edge Computing Appliance system which allows to optimize industrial processes of the Industry 4.0, safely connecting data and resources with people and devices and eliminating a gap between the operational technologies (OT) on places both the local and cloud information technologies (IT).

Intelliedge ecosystem

The company expands possibilities of the solutions for industrial Internet of Things (Industrial Internet of Things, IIoT) using an ecosystem of Intelliedge which includes modern opportunities for processing of network data.

Appointment

Fujitsu issued the solution Intelliedge for control of OT devices with the purpose to give to the companies an opportunity to receive full control over all production processes and to achieve exact monitoring and management of the optimized separate production lines at the price comparable to mass production. The controlled using the console which is placed locally or in a cloud environment, industrial Intelliedge systems manage collecting, control and activation of large volumes of the data created by sensors in OT environments including production, power and the oil and gas industry.

Intelliedge manages data streams between the network periphery and a cloud, often using low-speed connections, for creation of general idea about the current situation and managements of the whole industrial processes: beginning with control of supply channels, finishing with the systems of orders and the production sequences. For completely digital production lines it allows to gain an impression about all processes in real time.

Features

The Intelliedge Edge Computing Appliance systems designed and manufactured in Germany by Fujitsu company are integrated with previously configured hardware developed for work without maintenance in remote places and in industrial environments. The Intelliedge systems are delivered with the free Linux CentOS distribution kit, but can work also running other operating systems.

Thanks to support of OPC-UA, the Intelliedge system can quickly organize network peripherals. The solution of Fujitsu also helps to provide protection of the basic corporate data, reacting to possible vulnerabilities and protecting from cyber attacks. Its authentication system and enciphering based on certificates guarantees the protected communication, creating safe connection between the sensors of the network periphery and IT systems working locally or in cloud environments.

An opportunity to collect, to analyze and act on the basis of the data for optimization of the network peripheral systems in real time became relevant area of development of the world of Internet of Things. The solution Intelliedge liquidates a gap between the operational technologies used on production and the information technologies used locally or through cloud environments, allowing to receive full control and simple management of all production chains on the basis of digital technologies. Cost and availability

The Intelliedge Edge Computing Appliance systems from Fujitsu will be available to the order since January, 2018 in the countries of the region of EMEIA. The cost and technical characteristics depend on a configuration and the country.
