2024: Product Announcement
In early February 2024, Huawei introduced a new ultra-fast charging station for electric vehicles. The plant, called FusionCharge, is said to be able to fully replenish the energy supply of the average battery-powered machine in just 8 minutes.
The station was developed by Huawei's subsidiary Huawei Digital Power. The system has a power of 600 kW and, according to the developers, in terms of range, provides a charging speed of 1 km per second. The dimensions of the installation are 295 × 340 × 1700 mm. It is noted that the value of 8 minutes is calculated for a battery pack with a capacity of 80 kVt·ch when operating in favorable weather conditions. At low temperatures, time increases as the battery requires pre-preparation. For comparison, the Tesla Supercharger station is able to charge the battery pack of the specified capacity in about 19 minutes.
During 2024, according to Nikkei, Huawei plans to deploy about 100,000 FusionCharge stations in China. At the same time, in addition to installations with a capacity of 600 kW, modifications of 250 kW will be mounted. It is emphasized that FusionCharge stations are compatible with electric cars of any brand, unlike Tesla Supercharger.
The high power of FusionCharge leads to an increase in heat generation. Huawei solved the problem by using an effective liquid cooling system. It is also said that Huawei's rich experience in developing telecommunications equipment, in particular, cellular base stations, allowed the company to create charging plants that are resistant to any weather conditions. It is planned to install FusionCharge stations in the territories of various commercial facilities, as well as in road service areas.[1]
