2022: Service Announcement

In mid-November 2022, GLONASS JSC presented a new high-accuracy navigation service. According to the company, the technology can be effectively used for the development of the agro-industrial complex.

According to Pavel Varnavsky, Director of Navigation Products of GLONASS JSC, the new solution implements the technology of global navigation of high accuracy in real time - Precise Point Positioning (PPP) and provides decimeter accuracy of navigation definitions (up to 10 cm anywhere in the Eurasian and Arctic regions) without using local ground infrastructure. Correction information is transmitted to consumers via mobile and satellite communication. Thus, the service is in demand in territories where the construction of ground infrastructure for high-precision navigation is difficult and requires significant costs, for example, in agricultural fields.

GLONASS JSC presented a high-precision navigation service

According to Pavel Varnavsky, Russian companies previously used high-precision positioning solutions from foreign providers who announced their departure from Russia. Meanwhile, the service of GLONASS JSC uses domestic algorithms and, together with the subscriber satellite terminal developed by FSUE Cosmic Communications and NPP Automated Communication Systems JSC, provides high-quality import substitution, the press service of GLONASS JSC added.

The service has already been tested on the Northern Sea Route from Murmansk to the Laptev Sea and is used by the largest marine geophysical company in Russia - Sevmorneftegeofizika (an enterprise of Rosgeology) for positioning seismic vessels and bathymetry (studying the relief of the underwater part of the water basin). The timing of the full-scale launch of the technology by mid-November 2022 has not been announced.[1]
