2023: Start using the robot
On March 13, 2023, Noah Medical announced that an innovative Galaxy System installation for robotic bronchoscopy was tested at Macquarie University Hospital in Sydney.
It is noted that the bulk of potentially dangerous neoplasms are located in those parts of the lungs where doctors find it most difficult to get for biopsy. And existing technical solutions for performing the procedure are limited in their capabilities. The Galaxy System complex is designed to solve these problems.
The installation uses proprietary TiLT technology with tomographic reconstruction and advanced fluoroscopy functions. Thanks to the bronchoscope combined with the camera, direct visualization of the entire procedure is provided, including during a biopsy. A specially designed navigation system will allow you to carry out the most complex procedures. The design provides for the use of a disposable bronchoscope, which eliminates the likelihood of contamination or infection. Another advantage of the complex is the small occupied area, which makes it possible to organize the workflow as efficiently as possible.
Despite the fact that over time various technologies were used to diagnose lung cancer, the effectiveness of the available methods remained relatively low. The Galaxy System complex is designed to close this gap by providing doctors with a safe and easy-to-use platform to improve diagnostic efficiency and improve clinical outcomes, said Jian Zhang, founder and CEO of Noah Medical. |
In general, the Galaxy System installation received positive reviews from pulmonologists and surgeons who tested the robotic solution as part of preclinical research.[1]
