2022: Device Announcement
In September 2022, Garmin launched the first monitor in its range to measure systolic and diastolic blood pressure. The device works remotely.
The Garmin Index BPM Smart Blood Pressure Monitor allows users to measure systolic and diastolic blood pressure and synchronize this data with the Garmin Connect mobile app, which also syncs with Garmin devices such as smartwatches, belts, smart scales and cycling computers.
Users can set a reminder of blood pressure measurement, and readings can be viewed in summaries of 7 days, 4 weeks and 1 year, which can be exported to PDF format if the user needs to pass them to a doctor. Up to 16 users can use one Index BPM to track their individual readings and synchronize with their own Garmin Connect accounts. The cuff is adjusted according to the size of the arm 22-42 cm in the girth. Index BPM requires four AAA batteries that can last up to 9 months.
The remotely connected blood pressure monitor was first introduced by rival Withings back in 2011, which supported the connection to. Since then, iPhone Withings has released several more models of "smart" blood pressure monitors. Thus, while this is Garmin's first attempt at a dedicated smart blood pressure device, this model is not innovative and offers no significant benefits.
The Garmin Index BPM Smart Blood Pressure Monitor retails for $149.99 and is available for purchase on the Garmin website or from third-party retailers.[1]
