GS Group provided in the summer of 2016 the first Russian digital set-top box with support of television of ultrahigh clearness of Ultra HD (4K) — GS A230. Holding of first-ever made one television in format 4K to available millions of users. The new device under the General Satellite brand is equipped with the microprocessor of STMicroelectronics for the very high speed of data processing, the Wi-Fi-router for wireless connection to a home network and the built-in hard drive of 1 Tb. The prefix developed and manufactured in Russia does not concede to world analogs. The first UHD TV channels are available to subscribers of the operator of digital television of Tricolor TV.

The Russian radio-electronic industry is ready to create and already turns out the consumer products competitive in the domestic and international markets. An exit of GS A230 UHD prefix under the General Satellite brand — the powerful proof of presence at the domestic companies of all necessary competences and production capabilities for sure participation in the course of import substitution of consumer electronics in our country. The new device of completely Russian development and production on the characteristics is not inferior to foreign analogs.

The leading players of the industry of electronics actively master today an UHD format. According to forecasts of Transparency Market Research, by 2020 the world market of flat 4K-TVs will reach volume in 30.4 billion dollars. The Segment of UHD TVs promptly develops also in Russia: in 2015, according to GS Group, about 15.7 thousand TVs for viewing 4K-content were sold. Their cost continues to fall, and — raise demand. As a result, content of the corresponding quality becomes more and more. According to analysts from NSR, by 2025 in the world 785 4K-channels will be available already. Operators of satellite television, TDaily notes, advance UHD content on the market of mass TV-services. In July, 2016 the strategic partner of GS Group — the operator of digital television Tricolor TV — brought into commercial operation the Russia's first packet from three channels of ultrahigh clearness.

The first Russian set-top box with support of television in GS A230 4K-format has two built-in DVB-S/DVB-S2 tuners for acceptance of a satellite signal and broadcast of TV-content of ultrahigh permission on modern Ultra HD TVs. In a prefix server the new powerful microprocessor of STMicroelectronics and the coprocessor of own development GS Group (for data processing) which is for the first time used in consumer electronics are used. The quad-core single-crystal system of STMicroelectronics of architecture ARM Cortex-A9 has performance of 12,000 DMIPS that provides the very high speed of processing of 4K-content. The integrated graphic processor ARM Mali400-MP4 works at frequency of 400 MHz and allows to process 1600 Mpix/s.

GS A230 is intended for a premium of a segment of the Russian market. The equipment supports all modern standards of television of ultrahigh clearness, including the HEVC video codec. For wireless connection to IP network and independent "mirror" transfer of content on devices clients (the smartphone or the tablet based on iOS or Android OS and the GS Gamekit video game console) a prefix it is built in dual-band 2.4/5ggts the Wi-Fi-router with support of standard 802.11ac (data transfer rate to 1.75 Gbps). The device has the new standard of the multimedia HDMI 2.0 interface necessary for viewing TV of ultrahigh clearness at wire connection to the UHD TV. Owners of GS A230 can seize the opportunity of independent viewing video content from the screen of the second TV — for this purpose it is necessary to connect GS C5911 prefix client.

GS A230 has the built-in hard drive (HDD) of 1 Tb and is equipped with two USB connectors for reproduction of media content from external carriers, 3RCA and the optical plug S/PDIF. The updated software platform of Stingray TV has the friendly graphical interface and supports the PVR functions (record of content on HDD) and TimeShift ("the postponed viewing"). The possibility of use of functions is defined by the owner of content. Also such interactive services and applications as "Cinema halls of Tricolor TV and the intellectual electronic teleguide (EPG) are available to users of a new prefix. GS A230 has the modern glossy body and elegant design.
