GlassFish Server Open Source Edition 4.1
On October 22, 2014 the Oracle corporation provided version 4.1 GlassFish Server Open Source Edition application server with support of the updated platform, new functionality and the improved development environment.

GlassFish Server Open Source Edition 4.1 offers a number of new functionality, including, support of the updated platform and the improved development environment. Improvements were a part of the new version:
- Support of the updated platform — in the new version is implemented support of Java 8, upgraded versions of WebSocket 1.1 and CDI 1.2.
- Quality improvement and improvement of a development environment — upgraded versions more than 20 subprojects, more than 1 thousand corrections and functional improvements are made.
- Reference implementation of WebSocket (Tyrus) — restrictions of sessions, support of a proxy, reconnection of clients, the optimized broadcast transmission and access to performance measures through Java Management Extension (JMX) are added to this implementation.
- Reference implementation of JAX-RS (Jersey) — the new API interface of diagnostics and reconnection of clients through the events sent by the server are added to this implementation.
- JMS through WebSocket (OpenMQ) — is added support of transmission of messages through WebSocket to GlassFish Server Open Source Edition 4.1, including, under the mqstmp and mqjsonstmp protocols for the clients other than Java.
- Integration with NetBeans 8.0.1 — GlassFish Server Open Source Edition 4.1 is the NetBeans 8.0.1 component for providing the ready environment of effective development of Java EE 7 now.
