2021: Announcing an API-based tool to help connect data and applications

In early October 2021, Google, as part of the Apigee project, introduced a tool that allows you to link data and applications using the API principle. New opportunities will be publicly available from October 6th.

The update is accompanied by some important changes in the work of the Apigee platform itself: it has received more tools for effectively managing different stages of the software development lifecycle, the capabilities of interactive artificial intelligence and GraphQL support.

Amit Zaveri, Vice President and General Manager of Business Application Platforms at Google Cloud, in an interview with SiliconANGLE representatives, noted that the company adheres to the API First approach to digital transformation, which is aimed at making it easier for enterprises to connect the various applications that they run.

In the last few months, the demand for digital transformation has grown sharply, "said Zaveri, noting that the Apigee API capabilities allow us to satisfy it.

The platform completed more than 3.5 trillion API requests in 2021, which is 50% more than a year earlier.

This process is becoming very difficult for customers, so Google offers connectors and integration with Apigee, "Zaveri explained. - Businesses had to deal with custom code or use third-party integration tools, which made the task difficult.

Assured said simpler data integration will lead to increased use of applications in areas such as mortgage financing. The mortgage lending process is now extremely fragmented, involving the use of many paper forms, credit checks, and, accordingly, different systems. Integrating data from all these systems will give underwriters easier access to information about borrowers and credit risks, which will speed up the approval process. Other industries that could benefit from smoother data integration include healthcare and retail.[1]
