Google Play Services — (as of August, 2017) is the platform intended for integration of products of Google, such as Google+ in the Android-applications.

Google Play Services consists of the system service working on the device and the thin client. As the thin client the application of the user with the connected client library acts.[1]

The platform extends in the form of the normal application through Google Play Store and therefore it is independent of your telecom operator or the producer of the device. New devices have a poderzhka of Google Play Services "from the plant".

The Google Play services platform contains the most part of an interaction logic with products of Google. 2017: Release of Nearby Connections API of version 2.0

On August 4, 2017 it became known of release of Nearby Connections API of version 2.0. The technology provides the ciphered broadband connection acting with a number of Android devices without Internet access at the expense of what high capacity and low delays in delivery of packets are reached. Nearby 2.0 synchronizes address directories of smartphones when they are brought to each other closely.[2]

Connection is executed on channels Wi-Fi and Bluetooth using direct interaction in the P2P mode, without the appeal to external services. Nearby Connections supports mesh networks and the centralized connections.

In a class the teacher can organize network to which phones of pupils will be connected. The smartphone of the teacher will be the main thing and will send training materials. Nearby Connections will help to get Internet access in regions with a bad signal. Smartphones of locals form network of repeaters and will send data packets.

Nearby Connections can work at outdate Android devices, including OS of the version of Jelly Bean (4.x). For work of API it is required to set Google Play Services of version 11.0 or above. Developers can publish the programs with support of Nearby Connections in Google Play.
