2025: Launching
In mid-September 2025, the Vympel shipyard, part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC), launched the Project 12418 Strelter missile boat. It is designed to destroy combat surface ships, boats and enemy vehicles independently and in cooperation with the strike forces of the fleet.
According to network sources, in April 2016, Vympel signed a contract for completion with modernization and repair under project 12418 for the Navy Russia of two missile boats of the export project 12421 (code "Lightning") with serial numbers 01301 and 01302. Under the contract, the delivery of boats was planned for 2018-2019, but the work was delayed. As a result, the first of the boats - Stupinets - was launched for the Caspian flotilla on July 29, 2024.
The second missile boat was named "Shooter." The vessel has a displacement of about 580 tons, a length of 56.9 meters and a width of 10.2 meters. The speed reaches 29 knots, the cruising range is 2900 miles. The declared autonomy is 10 days.
The developers made an adjustment to the technical project to the requirements of the state customer. The boat is equipped with modern weapons, the latest navigation and communication tools. The architecture of the ship has changed, the habitability has improved, which is important for the team that will serve on it.
The main power plant of the vessel includes two diesel-geared units M521. The armament includes the Uranus anti-ship missile system, AK-176M and AK-630M naval artillery installations, Igla-type MANPADS, anti- MP-405-1E means, the Mineral-ME naval radar system, the Positive-ME1 naval radar station, and the MR-123-02 naval artillery fire control system.[1]
