System presentation

On December 18, 2013 the Hewlett-Packard company announced a release of the Converged System HP platform.

HP Converged System helps to cope with three main calls facing IT departments: high price, long implementing solutions and risk of losses for business in case of unstable work of infrastructure.

The solutions which are a part of this portfolio are characterized by the company as exclusively simple in deployment and management: from the moment of order placement before start less than 20 days go to operation. New solutions help IT departments to spend less time for integration and to focus on the main thing — input in a system of the new applications creating added value.

All components of HP Converged Systems were initially created with the put idea about convergence.

Result of approach became:

  • record-breaking short terms of input of systems in operation;
  • management of all infrastructure from the uniform tool considerably reducing complexity of service of IT;
  • existence of a uniform contact point on service maintenance of all end-to-end system.

Description and components

HP Converged Systems is a complex set of solutions, ready to use.

  • HP Converged System for Virtualization is the fastest way to go to virtualization of IT resources. The relevance of this subject cannot already be disputed: according to Gartner by 2016 in the world of 82% of server loadings will be executed in the virtualized environment. HP Converged System for Virtualization helps customers to scale without effort computing resources using previously customized building block systems of virtualization. Such systems are supported by from 50 to 1000 virtual machines, provide double increase in productivity, and their initial cost is 25% lower in comparison with the competing solutions.

  • HP Converged System 300 for Vertica accelerates the analysis of large volumes of data and helps the organizations to transform data to information, suitable for use. This solution works 50-1000 times quicker and provides for 70% smaller cost for terabyte in comparison with traditional data warehouses.

  • HP Converged System 100 for Hosted Desktops - works at a basis of a server architecture of HP Moonshot and provides bigger convenience to users in comparison with traditional infrastructure of virtual computers. This first "PC on the chip" for DPC provides six times higher graphic performance and also for 44% lower cost of ownership.

Products of HP Converged Systems are followed by services of support of HP of Proactive Care which cover all system components, including the software of partners. Besides, HP offers consulting services in planning, design and integration of HP solutions of Converged Systems into virtual, cloud environments and platforms of Big Data.

Availability

HP Converged System for Virtualization and HP Converged System for Hosted Desktops are available worldwide.

The global ecosystem of sales representatives of HP will become the main channel for sale of a system of HP of Converged System for Virtualization. Some partners will be certified on accomplishment of installations.

The system of HP Converged System for Vertica will be available in the second quarter 2014 financial year of HP.

The enterprise quickly adaptive to changes of business, (Instant-on Enterprise) is under construction on the basis of technologies which provide fast and reliable scaling according to growth or decrease in his requirements. At the same time it is possible to avoid both surplus, and resource shortage: there is an instant reorganization in strict accordance with requirements of the enterprise.

Due to the lack of flexibility of the infrastructure constructed based on physical or virtual resources capability of the enterprises quickly quite often worsens to rebuild the activity. As a result, daily IT transactions and procedures of maintenance take away more than 70% of IT resources, leaving on the innovative development only 30%.

The research conducted in 2011 by request of HP company showed that 19% of workloads are performed on mainframes today, at the same time is going to transfer nearly 20% of such loads to other systems. Besides, as heads of IT departments reported, now in their organizations the volume of the workloads covered by virtualization is only 31%, and, according to the forecast, in the next two years this indicator will increase by 20%.

During the research the confrontation of opinion of Chief information officers and upper managers in the commercial and state organizations was also revealed. About 21% of heads of IT departments are sure that infrastructure subordinated to them is optimized and meets relevant requirements of the enterprise. However only 13% of management officials agreed with it.

Convergent Infrastructure of HP is a conceptual plan of creation of DPC of the future which is designed to eliminate a gap between requirements of the enterprise and opportunities of IT services. With its help the enterprises will get rid of accumulation of technologies and will be able to integrate servers, storage systems, network devices and the equipment of power supply and cooling into shared pools of resources. The single platform of administration allows to manage these pools and to distribute their opportunities.

Innovation or routine?

HP helps to construct effective infrastructure, to sposobnuyuspravitsya with any workload, at any time, in any place at the new level of integration and automation.

The reference arkitektura of Convergent Infrastructure of HP is constructed on the basis of four basic technologies. Customers will be able to solve the following problems with their help:

  • reduce complexity and risks, to reduce resource requirements and to reduce costs thanks to a uniform modular framework of the virtualized servers, storage systems and network devices provided in the form of pools of HP of Virtual Resource Pools;
  • increase service life of the DPC, lower energy consumption and reduce the needs for cooling, thanks to HP Data Center Smart Grid. This solution provides intellectual management of power supply of systems and premises;
  • simplify network infrastructure and provide flexibility on all its extent — from DPC to network edge — using HP FlexFabric Network. Allows to create this solution the general, requiring single laying of cables, virtual network factory for connection of servers to switches and storage systems;
  • improve productivity of work due to use of IT infrastructure as shared service that is provided by means of HP Matrix Operating Environment. Thanks to this solution the single platform for management and automation of work of the technology systems provided by a great number of different suppliers at all levels — from infrastructure to applications is created.

Convergent Infrastructure of HP relies on the following elements: innovations of HP Labs are the central research division of HP; the products HP Software providing the high level of interoperability and heterogeneous management; power of a partner ecosystem of HP; the economic indicators which do not have analogs implemented thanks to the optimized supply chain leading in the industry.
